New York, N.Y. – Ryan Osborne has been elevated to Coordinator of Athletics Facilities & Operations, Deputy Director of Athletics Cat Alves announced. With former head baseball coach Joe Mandile's departure from John Jay, "Ozzy" will also serve as the Interim Head Baseball Coach.

"Ozzy has been a valued member of our team for many years," Alves said. "Elevating his responsibilities brings an added level of coordination and professionalism to our internal operations. His high energy and commitment are among his best attributes. I am excited to see him contribute in new ways."

In his new role, Osborne will assist Justin Stewart with game day operations as the Deputy Game Day Operations Supervisor. He will also be responsible for facilities and storage maintenance, as well as managing the department's fleet of vans.

"With my increased responsibility as the Coordinator of Athletics Facilities and Operations, it feels great knowing my hard work is appreciated." stated Osborne. "I'll always be a Hound!"

Osborne served as an assistant baseball coach under Mandile during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. He was responsible for the day-to-day baseball operations including practice planning, recruiting, and position specific work and served as the team's first base coach and outfield coach. Ozzy assisted Mandile in overseeing the offense primarily working with the team's hitters. Off the field, he oversaw the team's social media platform and contributed to the program's virtual practice platform during the pandemic.

"I am very honored to be leading the baseball program as head coach," Osborne said. "It's another life goal of mine accomplished and I will not stop moving forward."

"Our baseball program will be in excellent hands with Ozzy at the helm on an interim basis this season," stated Alves. "His dedicated relationships with recruits and current student-athletes will make this a smooth transition as we look to bounce back strong from two seasons cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic."

Ozzy transferred to John Jay for his senior season in 2018. Hitting in the middle of the lineup, the outfielder hit .314 with 38 hits, 28 runs scored, nine doubles, five home runs, 27 runs batted in, and stole 19 bases in 20 attempts. Starting every game for the Bloodhounds, he led the squad in hits, doubles, RBIs, total bases (66), and stolen bases. He was a major contributor to John Jay's run that saw them advance to the CUNYAC Championship for the first time since 2008.
