Kenny Collins was named St. Lawrence University's Head Baseball Coach on July 1, as announced by Senior Vice President for Athletics Bob Durocher.

Collins, who served as the Interim Head Baseball Coach following the step down of Peter Hoy in the summer of 2020, led the Saints to a 12-12 overall record, marking the first time the team has had a .500 record since 2014. Four members of the Saints' squad earned All-Liberty League honors, while 12 earned a spot on the league's All-Academic Team.

"Kenny did an outstanding job leading our baseball program after Coach Hoy stepped down last summer, as the Interim Head Coach," said Durocher. "He guided the Saints through the pandemic shutdown and helped the team produce its best season since 2014 this past spring. After making an immediate impact on the program, I have no doubt that Kenny will continue to lead the Saints in the right direction in the years to come, and we're happy to welcome him back as head coach."

Prior to joining the Saints as the graduate assistant coach for the 2019-2020 season, Collins played two professional seasons in the Empire Professional Baseball League for the Plattsburgh Redbirds and New York Bucks and was voted to the 2017 All-Star game. He was also voted from the All-Star game in two different collegiate summer leagues with the Wellsville Nitros in 2015 and the Adirondack Trail Blazers in 2016. He has also worked as an instructor in the Player Development Systems in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Collins, recently earned his Master's Degree in Education from St. Lawrence, while serving as the interim head coach. He graduated from Hamilton College in 2017 with a degree in political science. He was a two-year captain and four-year starter for the Continentals' baseball team and finished top-five in program history in runs scores, on-base percentage and stolen bases.

"I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to continue coaching St. Lawrence baseball," said Collins. "It is a great group of athletes and alumni who take a lot of pride in the program and its history. We have made great strides in the past year, but have plenty of work to do in order to achieve our goals. I look forward to leading the team to success on and off the field."
