Slome toses no hitter for CUW

Tucson, Ariz. – The CUW baseball team opened their spring break trip in Arizona on Saturday with an evening doubleheader with Bethany Lutheran.

In the second game, freshman Zach Slome (Schaumburg, Ill.) recorded 10 strikeouts in his full game with the 25 batters faced as he no hit the Vikings.

The Falcons started the scoring in the top of the fourth with two runs. They followed that up with two more in the fifth and one in the sixth. Senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) led the Falcons with two RBIs.

The first game of the doubleheader went the way of Bethany Lutheran with a final score of 2-15.

The Vikings scored five runs in the top of the first inning which would eventually seal the deal. The Falcons scored their two runs in the bottom of the first off the bat of senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) that scored senior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) as well as senior Tristan Larget (Verona, Wis.) that would score Tillmon.

Bethany Lutheran scored seven in the fifth and three in the seventh for the final score of 15-2.

 

The Falcons turn their attention toward Chapman and Augsburg in a doubleheader on Sunday.
