When the game was called in the fifth inning due to weather, Vassar earned a 10-4 victory over Lakeland on Saturday morning. The Brewers move to 2-5, while the Muskies slip to 7-4 overall. After an initial delay, the game finally started and big innings were the rule as Vassar had two innings of four or more runs and Lakeland had on with three. Pat Kerrigan (1-1) struck out four batters for the win, while junior Cole Eggleston earned the save.
Caleb Doyle and Mike Nee each recorded three hits as Clarkson University earned a 5-3 win over Penn State Altoona after a lengthy weather delay on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Knights were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona, but due to time constraints for PS-Altoona, the matchup was shortened to a single seven-inning contest. Clarkson improved to 2-0 on the season, while Altoona returns to Pennsylvania with a 3-8 record. Glenn Stever started the game and struck out four over two innings for the Knights. Nicholas Hofacker came on in relief in the third, and he finished off the contest's final five innings by scattering seven hits.
Senior right-handed pitcher Kyle Brelling struck out 12 batters and classmate outfielder Max Gregory knocked in four RBI's to lead the Western Connecticut State University to a 9-1 season opening victory over Gettysburg College in Florida on Saturday. After escaping from a bases loaded jam with no outs in the top of the first, Brelling tossed six solid innings while striking out 12 batters to earn the win. Gregory finished the day with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate which included a towering opposite field blast that broke the game wide-open in the second frame. WestConn senior catcher Zach Edwards and juniors Joe Gambino and Christopher Ehlers added two hits apiece in the win.
Chapman (8-4) defeated Carthage (3-5) 11-2 as the Firebirds opened an eight-day, seven-game spring trip to the Tucson Invitational on Saturday at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz. Chapman jumped on Carthage starting pitcher Dante Guarascio (1-2) with a four spot on four hits in the opening inning. The Panthers added two more in the second on a two-run double by Davis Mielwocki and the offense had the game in control. Chapman starting pitcher Grant Manning (1-1) limited Carthage to those two runs, one earned, on nine hits and two walks over seven innings, while striking out 11 batters. Brad Lang blanked the Firebirds over the final two frame.

Denison University started off the Snowbird Classic with a 6-3 win over Saint John's University on Saturday. It was the first of six games in Florida for the Big Red, who after combining for 41 runs across its first three games of the season at the 5th Annual Berry Invitational, began their first ever matchup against the Johnnies by wasting no time getting on the scoreboard. In all, the Big Red scored at least one run in each of the first four innings of the game while starting pitcher Charlie Fleming (2-0) allowed six hits, three runs and two earned runs through his 7.1 innings, and pitched four 1-2-3 innings.
Storms brought an early end to Ohio Northern's doubleheader with Franklin & Marshall on Saturday at Lake Myrtle Park. The Polar Bears won the opening game 3-1 in five innings, and the second game was canceled due to inclement weather. ONU improves to 2-5 overall on the season while the Diplomats fall to 3-3. Senior Chayten Overholt led ONU with two hits, including a triple, and McMann finished with a team-high two RBIs. Noah Truax recorded the win on the mound, allowing four hits, one walk and one unearned run while striking out six over five innings.
This afternoon No. 8 Webster University was back in action when they traveled to Port Charlotte, Florida, to compete in the 2022 Snowbird Classic. The Gorloks split their doubleheader on the day as they fell to the No. 2 Marietta College Pioneers by a final score of 3-1 and then bounced back to defeat the No. 4 North Central (Ill.) Cardinals by a final score of 5-0 to improve to 6-2 on the season. Marietta got on the board first in this one as they scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. Webster bounced back and tied the score in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Nathaniel Martinez, but a run from the Pioneers in the bottom of the frame gave them a 2-1 lead midway through the contest. They scored an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth and picked up the final outs of the game to solidify the win. Webster put together five hits in their second game of the day. Alek Elges (2-1) was the starting pitcher in the second game and did not allow a hit until the fifth inning of the contest. He allowed just five hits while striking out four in 8.1 innings. Cooper Hake came in to relieve Elges in the ninth and was able to pick up the final outs of the game to solidify the shutout.
Wilkes University concluded its Spring Break Trip to Florida with a 14-4 victory over Messiah University on Saturday morning. The Colonels used 13 hits including a grand slam by Darren Kerdesky on offense and strong pitching by four players to secure the win. Gage Coudriet started on the mound for the Colonels and got a no decision as he pitched the first four innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on four hits. Tegan Shortlidge (2-0) pitched the next three innings to earn the win as he allowed one run (zero earned) on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Jack Gordon and Ryan Sanderson finished up the game. Darren Kerdesky went 2-for-4 with four RBI's and three runs scored on the day.
Senior Teddy Hoxie fired five scoreless innings and Drew University closed out its spring break trip to Florida with an 11-1 seven-inning victory over Geneva College Saturday morning. Hoxie (3-1) carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before yielding a one-out single. He finished with six strikeouts in his second straight impressive start. In the team's spring break opener on Monday, he carried a shutout into the ninth inning versus Wilkes University. Seven starters batted safely for the Rangers, including junior K.J. Hallgren, who went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, and senior Cole Bosch, who was 2-for-3 with two runs. Freshman Matt Myers collected three RBIs while classmate Dallas Lorenzetti scored three runs. The Rangers posted their second-highest scoring output of the season and plated a run in four of the six innings in which they hit.
Baldwin Wallace University faced Arcadia University on Saturday in the Snowbird Classic. Big bats and seven homeruns over the two days surged the Yellow Jackets past Arcadia 8-2. BW improves to an undefeated 10-0 record to start the season. The Yellow Jackets snapped Arcadia's nine game win streak as BW was led by Ludwick as he garnered the BW career runs record during the contest. The Yellow Jackets were also led by the home run hitters, Luke Vonderhaar and junior designated hitter Andrew Parker.
Pomona-Pitzer completed their first SCIAC sweep of the season, 6-1 and 14-5, with a doubleheader win over Occidental on Saturday afternoon at Andersen Field. In the opener, the Sagehens were led by Isaac Kim who went 3-5 in the win with two RBI's and two runs scored. Brett Super got the win for the Sagehens on the mound as he went seven innings and only gave up one run while Eamon Woods came on in relief for two innings. The Sagehens were led by Jackson Flemming and Jimmy Legg in game two. They each notched four hits in the game with Jackson going 4-5 and Legg a perfect 4-4
George Fox took the opening game of its series, 6-5, against NWC frontrunner Puget Sound on Saturday and leads 5-4 in the top of the eighth after game two was halted by rain. After multiple weeks of strong starts but little run support behind him, Sean Wiese officially earned his first victory of the season after another seven-inning outing. The southpaw struck out five with four hits and two earned runs scattered throughout. Alex Abbott and Andrew Sutherland closed the game for Fox in the win with an inning apiece.
After a morning filled with uncertainty as storms battered the Davenport area, MCLA got in their scheduled doubleheader with Colby Sawyer at Northeast Sports Park. In the opener, MCLA received a solid performance off the mound from first year hurler Aidan Brett to earn a 5-4 comeback win in game one. The Chargers took game two by a score of 10-3. Kenyon's pitching staff stranded 15 Penn State Behrend runners on base on their way to a 13-7 win. The Lords sealed the game with a five-run eighth inning to improve to 3-4 on the season. Kenyon starter Lewis Cropper got off to a great start, striking out the first two Lions of the game. Cropper gave up a double but came back with another strikeout. In the bottom of the first, the Lords started the same way as the Lions, a pair of strikeouts. Alex Gow sent a ball over the fence, giving Kenyon a lead they would hold on to for the rest of the game.
Weather may have shortened the game but it didn't dampen the Buccaneers' spirits as Beloit College picked up an 8-0 win over La Roche. Organizers of the RussMatt Invitational moved the game up an hour from its regularly scheduled slot to try and beat the rain. The weather would come in and force the game to be suspended in the top of the sixth but the Bucs plated eight runs before that point for a hefty win in the season. The weather worsened quickly with the game being called in the top of the sixth. James Wicker and Matt Crandall each tallied a pair of hits and two RBIs a piece to lead the Beloit offense. Jacob Sligar picked up the complete game win on the mound for the Bucs scattering five hits across five innings of work while striking out three in the shutout.
Bluffton University finished off their spring break trip with a 5-3 victory over Rockford University. The Beavers improved to 3-6 on the season while the Regents dropped to 3-3. Garrett O'Reilly saw his second start on the mound, throwing four innings of five pitch and one strikeout ball. Jacob Daulton picked up the win for the game with his two innings of two hit and two strikeout relief. Tallying his second save for the season and securing the victory for the Beavers was Seth Evans in one inning of no-hit closing. The Bluffton offense was fueled by Grant Hovest, hitting a perfect 3-for-3.
Concordia Texas won both games of the doubleheader, 5-4 and 3-2, employing some late-game magic in both, and completed the series sweep over Ozarks on Saturday. The first game, scheduled for seven innings, turned into a nine-inning contest. After Ozarks took a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth, the Tornados walked it off in the bottom half thanks to RBIs from Kalen Moreno and Chris Varljen, securing a 5-4 victory. Game two was another thrilling affair, as the Tornados completed a comeback effort capped off with a go-ahead RBI single from Mason Dubois in the sixth inning. Dubois recorded four hits in the game, bringing his total to five on the day, and Otto Franz picked up a hit and two RBIs. Moreno also added two hits to the column, completing a 3-for-6 day at the plate.
Case Western Reserve University split a doubleheader with #1 Cortland on Saturday at Lexington County Stadium in Lexington, South Carolina, losing the first game 12-1 but winning the second game 7-3. The win ends a six-game losing streak for the Spartans, who are now 4-6 on the season. The Red Dragons stand at 8-3 after the split. In the second game of the doubleheader, graduate student pitcher Evan Faxon (2-0) pitched seven strong innings, allowing no earned runs on six hits and a walk. Faxon struck out 10 Red Dragons, his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Across three starts, Faxon is averaging 12.46 strikeouts per nine innings.
Southwestern got double-digit strikeout performances from its pitching staff in two games and a big day from second baseman Trent Raschke to sweep the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys, 3-0 and 10-5, in a road doubleheader. Travis Harvey (1-0) dominated on the mound for Southwestern, matching his career-high 14 strikeouts with only one walk and five hits surrendered for his first complete-game shutout of the season. In game two, Trent Raschke continued to hit everything the Hardin-Simmons' pitching staff could throw at him, posting a career-high four hits in five at-bats, driving in three RBIs, and scoring one run. Southwestern starting pitcher Ben Ludwig surrendered four runs on four hits in the bottom of the seventh inning, leaving the inning with one out to finish with eight strikeouts, allowing five runs, including one unearned run, on 13 hits.
