After slipping in extras to open the day, Suffolk rebounded in the nightcap at Curry with an 8-2 victory over the Colonels to split the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) twinbill Saturday at Valley Diamond. North Central (Minn.) went on the road for a doubleheader in Illinois this afternoon as they matched up with Lincoln Christian University (LCU) and came away with their first wins, 8-5 and 6-1. The Rams were quick to the punch in both games on the afternoon scoring in each of the opening frames. In game one LCU answered back and it was the Rams battling to regain the lead while never relinquishing it. In game number two, the Rams continued to grow their lead after their hot start as they cruised to a 6-1 victory, completing the series sweep. After the Red Lions knotted game one up 5 to 5 in the 5th inning, the Rams used a three-run seventh inning to secure an 8 to 5 victory. The Rams got the scoring started once again in the top half of the first inning in game number two. LCU gave Tanner Oka his only blemish on the afternoon in the bottom half of the 4th inning, but the push from the Red Lions was not enough to fluster Oka as he closed with three more scoreless innings en route to the 6 to 1 victory.
John Jay earned its first victory of the 2022 season, and the first win of Head Coach Ryan Osborne's career, on Saturday afternoon with a 10-7 victory over Lehman College in the second game of its CUNYAC opening doubleheader at Maimonides Park. The Bloodhounds bounced back to earn the hard-fought win after dropping the earlier game, 12-8. John Jay improves to 1-17 (1-1 CUNYAC) on the year while Lehman moves to 3-3 (1-1 CUNYAC) on the season. After dropping game one due to a tough first inning, John Jay showed a ton of resilience and came back with an awesome performance in game two. With the game scoreless in the bottom of the fourth inning, freshman Thomas Salerno came up with the bases loaded and crushed a bases-clearing triple over the right fielders head to spark the Bloodhounds. They ended up scoring six runs in the fourth, but the Lighting answered with five runs of their own in the top of the fifth. Freshman Matthew Brennan toed the hill in the top of the fifth and induced a clutch double play to hold the lead, and eventually went on to earn the save.
Senior Avery Spicer's three-run homer on Senior Day highlighted Averett University's 10-0 shutout in 8 innings over Southern Virginia University on Saturday afternoon at Owen-Fulton Field. Averett (8-15, 3-3 USA South) totaled 10 runs on 12 hits to finish the three-game series with a victory over Southern Virginia (5-8, 2-4 USA South). Spicer went 3-for-3, finishing only a triple shy of hitting for the cycle on Senior Day. Freshman right-hander Jake Braun (1-0) earned his first collegiate win on the mound by pitching five scoreless innings. Freshmen Nathan Comer, Thomas Heaney III and sophomore Eric Hanson also pitched scoreless innings of relief as Averett's entire staff worked out of trouble throughout the game. Southern Virginia left 13 runners on.
Mount St. Vincent headed to Purchase College to face off against the Panthers in a conference doubleheader. Senior Jason Komulainen and sophomore Jack LeBlond each were 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to an 8-5 win over the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs in the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the UMD Baseball Field. Southern Maine dropped the second game 1-0 to the Corsairs. UMD junior Ryan Qualey pitched nine shutout innings to lead the Corsairs in game two, allowing just three hits and striking out 12.
New England College salvaged a New England Collegiate Conference split at Mitchell College. After dropping game one 4-1, the Pilgrims bounced back with a 4-1 win over the Mariners Saturday afternoon. NEC was the first team to score for the second straight game as Normand singled to right field, plating Philibotte on the play. The Mariners tied the game in the bottom half of the frame, as Abreu scored on a fielder's choice. New England College regained their lead, as they plated three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Devin Parson tripled down the right-field line, scoring Pat Hagerty and Normand on the play before Parsons scampered home on a Luca Giollango single to center. In the bottom of the seventh, Corey O'Day shut the door to pick up his first collegiate save. Shayne Audet went 6.0 innings, as he scattered three hits while striking out 11. With a win in game two, the Pilgrims snap Mitchell's ten-game winnings streak and NEC's five-game skid. Mitchell leads the all-time series, 7-4.
Carthage College (5-11) snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday with a dramatic, come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Illinois Institute of Technology (3-8) at Art Nehf Field in Terre Haute, Ind. The game was the second for the Firebirds on a three-game trip to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. In the Carthage ninth, Bryce Prybylinski led off with a double and advanced to third on a Gori wild pitch. Pinch-hitter Jax Calverley walked. With one out, pinch-hitter Lucas Hines walked to load the base. Another pinch-hitter, Colton Klein, single down the left field line to score Prybylinski. Zac Lis relieved Gori on the hill, and Kody Krekling reached base on an error by the shortstop, scoring Calverley to make it a 4-3 game. With two outs, Matt Pratscher doubled to left, scoring both Krekling and pinch-runner Ben Massoglia and giving the Firebirds a 5-4 lead. In the Illinois Tech ninth, the Scarlet Hawks put a runner on base against relief pitcher Troy Siranovic, but the junior righty, who entered the game in the seventh inning, got the final three outs to close out the game.
Washington and Lee came to Haley Toyota Field on a cold windy Saturday to face Roanoke in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. Trailing 2-1, the Maroons scored nine unanswered runs on their way to a 23-11 ODAC win. Roanoke took a 6-0 lead into the ninth inning of game two and held on for the sweep of the Generals. In the bottom of the seventh, the Maroons would plate eight runs on five hits and a General error to put the game out of reach. Smith had a bases clearing triple to cap the eight-run explosion. Will Turner got the win by going seven innings, giving up eight hits, three earned runs all while striking out three. Cocolis was a perfect 4-4, with three runs and two RBI to go with his two home runs. Smith, Butler, and Bonzon each drove in four runs with 13 different Maroons crossing home plate. In game two, Roanoke maintained the 6-0 edge into the ninth inning. Three runs on three hits would allow Washington and Lee to cut the deficit in half, 6-3. Austin Bansek entered the game with two Generals on base to record the final out as Roanoke picked up the series sweeping win.
A walk-off win in game one preceded a close contest in game two as Arcadia University took two from Wilkes University by 6-5 and 2-1 finals, respectively, completing a three-game sweep in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom play on Saturday. The Knights improved to 6-0 in league play and 17-3 overall with the wins. Owen Margolis improved to 5-0 with the win, allowing one run in the final inning. Nick Fossile pitched the initial six-plus innings of the opener, surrendering four runs (three earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Carson Denham slammed the door, earning the game two win with 2.2 innings of shutout relief allowing one hit while striking out four.
Senior Andrew Decker hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Gettysburg College (8-10) held on for an 8-7 win over Mount Aloysius College (9-5) in the opening game of a non-conference doubleheader at Kirchhoff Field on Saturday. The Bullets rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth in the second game, but the Mounties eventually slipped past 9-8 in 11 innings to pull off the split.
Behind the first two home runs of first-year outfielder/pitcher Nick Harms' career, the Case Western Reserve University swept Emory University in a University Athletic Association doubleheader on Saturday at Chappell Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The Spartans won the first game 5-4 and the second game 11-4. With the two wins, CWRU improved to 8-10 on the season and 2-1 in the UAA. The Eagles fall to 14-10 and 1-2 in conference play. Graduate student shortstop Jacob Lott went five-for-eight in the two games with three doubles, two runs batted in, and three runs scored. In both games, the Spartan relief corps carried the load on the mound, allowing zero earned runs in nine and one-third innings. In the first game, first-year Kyle Gearding and sophomore Tyler Horvath allowed no hits in four innings with six strikeouts. Junior Sankalp Doshi and sophomore Andrew Allen struck out eight in five and one-third innings in the second game.
Lewis & Clark College scored the final five runs in game one to earn a huge comeback win over NWC leaders Pacific Lutheran University and a doubleheader split with the Lutes on Sunday at the Huston Sports Complex. Senior Jack Thomson hit a game-tying three-run home run in the seventh and junior Blake Tellinghusen delivered the go-ahead, two-out, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure a huge game one win for the Pioneers.
Skidmore College opened Liberty League play with a well earned split with Ithaca College. Ithaca won the first game 5-3 in 11 innings, while the Thoroughbreds bounced back to take game two 3-2. Skidmore is 12-2 overall and 1-1 in Liberty League play. The Bombers are 11-4 and 1-1. Game one was a battle of aces with Skidmore's Jack Clark and Ithaca's Kyle Lambert showing why they are among the league's best. Clark went 7.0 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Lambert went 8.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He walked five and struck out nine. The nightcap turned into another pitcher's duel. This time Skidmore's Ameer Hasan and Justin Posnik combined for the win.
The Illinois College Blueboys began conference play hosting Cornell College in a single game on Saturday. IC was able to get the 3-2 win in extra innings to advance to 6-10 overall. The Rams were able to take the lead in the top of the fifth to stand ahead of the Blueboys 0-1. Cornell would add another run in the top of the seventh to make the score 0-2. IC got on the board after a sacrifice fly ball by Kellen Blum was able to bring in a score by Peyton Abbott. Tyler Blum singled to bring in the tying run by James Marcinkowski. This sent the game into extra innings. The Blueboys loaded the bases in the bottom of the eleventh inning to set up the game winning score. A walk-off base hit by Cullen McBride brought in the game winning run by Jared Dorfman to give IC the thrilling win 3-2. Kole Lowry finished the game with the win at the mound.

St. Joseph's College (L.I.) opened up its Skyline Conference schedule with a pair of wins over the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Gregg Alfano Field on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles started the day with a 10-2 win in game one and rolled through the Mariners for a 14-5 win in game two improving to 3-4 on the season with a 2-0 conference mark. USMMA falls to 5-11 overall, 0-2 Skyline. After the first, SJC starter Kevin Czeczotka kept the Mariners quiet until the seventh when Garrett Clapsaddle knocked in Jared Chambers for their second run of the game before Garrett Aichele grounded into a double play to end the game. Czeczotka picked up his first win of the season allowing just two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort. In game two, St. Joseph's sent all nine Golden Eagles to the plate and came away with four runs in the bottom of the first. Nicholas Dellitalia earned the win allowing just three hits in three shutout innings of relief.
Brandeis University won its seventh- and eighth-straight games today as the Judges swept visiting Amherst College in a doubleheader, 8-0 in the opener and 7-4 in the second game. With the wins, the Judges improve to 9-2 on the season as they match their longest winning streak of last season and their longest since 2016. The Mammoths fall to 4-5 on the campaign. In the opener, the Judges got their third-straight terrific pitching performance thanks to senior Marc Maestri, who tossed the team's second shutout of the week. Making just his second collegiate start, Maestri threw a complete-game eight-hitter. He struck out seven Mammoths and did not walk a batter, throwing 79 pitches, 58 of them for strikes. Maestri allowed just one Amherst runner past second base and benefitted from a pair of double plays. In the second game, the story was the long ball, as all but two of the game's runs came home on home runs. Graduate student 1B Mike Khoury followed with a towering home run to right field onto the Judges' softball field to give Brandeis a 7-4 cushion. The homer was Khoury's seventh of the season, tying his career-high. It was also the 25th blast of his career, moving him into a tie for second place on Brandeis's all-time list with Adam Zoldak '00. Khoury now trails all-time leader Jim Deschaine '99 by two on the career list. His seven bombs are tied for 10th on Brandeis's single-season list.
The University of Rochester opened up Liberty League conference play with a doubleheader sweep over host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday afternoon at RPI's Robison Field. Rochester (12-4, 2-0 Liberty League), snapped its three-game losing streak with the wins of 8-3 and 5-4, with the second game needing an extra inning to decide a winner. Rensselaer is 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Rochester starter Nolan Sparks faced the minimum over his first two innings. He finished the game with seven strikeouts over six innings, earning his second win of the season. Sparks allowed just five hits and two runs. In game two, the host Engineers plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh and final scheduled inning to force extras. Rochester responded with a sacrifice fly from Alec Ellison to score the game-winning run in the top of the eighth, while Aidan Cooney closed the door on the hosts in the bottom of the inning, earning the save.
On a windy day at Loudermilk Field, power at the plate was showcased with three homeruns for the Lions as Piedmont downed Brevard 9-6. Carter Ballstadt had a pair of bombs while Alex Gonzalez added a homer. Brevard added another run in the ninth but Tyler Roon earned the win in relief pitching 2.1 innings allowing four hits, no runs and struck out two.
Mississippi University for Women picked up a pair of much-needed wins by sweeping Southeastern Baptist College at Heritage Academy Field. The Owls (7-12) bested the Chargers (5-10) in game one, 6-4, and went on to earn a 5-4 victory with a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt in game two. In the bottom of the sixth, the Owls got even when Tucker singled to left and pinch-runner Xavier Harrison motored home to knot matters at 3-3. A Blake Estabrook double brought Tucker home with the game-winning RBI. MUW added a couple of insurance runs on an SBC error which, as it turned out, the hosts would need, 6-3. Game two saw The W playing catch-up after a pair of runs by SBC in the second frame. However, the Owls brought out the heavy artillery to twice get back in the game. In the bottom of the third, back-to-back solo home runs by Blaize Gann and Blake Estabrook tied the contest at 2-2. Tucker and Gann drew walks to start the winning rally. Blake Estabrook reached on a fielder's choice, with Tucker forced at second and the speedy Gann moving up to third. Joel Estabrook worked a walk, as well, to load the bases for Evans. Evans stepped to the plate leading The W regulars in slugging percentage and ranking second on the team in batting average. But MUW head coach Scott Mularz reached into his bag of tricks and – with Gann immediately breaking for the plate – Evans dropped a perfect bunt toward third base, as Gann easily scored the winning run.
Wilson College hosted Rosemont College this cold and windy afternoon at Henninger Field. The Phoenix (14-3, 3-1 CSAC) swept both ends of the doubleheader over the Ravens (3-12, 0-2 CSAC) by scores of 18-2 and 10-3. The Phoenix blew game oone open in the second inning. Much like game 1, the Phoenix jumped out to an early lead and added runs throughout the game. Brandon Cook and Alex Seidleck paced the offense with 3 hits each. Chris Baumann picked up the win after going 5 innings and striking out 13 Ravens.
FDU-Florham split its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom doubleheader with King's College (Pa.) this afternoon at Vincent J. and Lenda F. Naimoli Ballpark. The Devils walked off in the opener, but fell in the nightcap by a 13-6 final. FDU starter Christian Capuano struck out six batters his first time through the order and recorded the 100th punchout of his career in the opening inning. In the top of the ninth, King's had the go ahead run on third, but Colby Craig got out of the jam giving FDU a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the frame. Vincent Ferrigno was hit by a pitch as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the ninth and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Pinch runner Jordan Fedak moved to third on a ground out and scored the game winning run on a wild pitch. After getting walked off in the opener, King's came out firing in the top of the first inning with five runs. The Monarchs went on to score at least one run in six of the seven innings en route to the 13-6 win.
Playing at Paolino Field for the first time in the 2022 season, Roger Williams University opened their Commonwealth Coast Conference slate of games with a sweep of Nichols College on Saturday. Justin Garcia matched his career-high, piling up 15 strikeouts across seven shutout innings to lead the Hawks to a 4-2 win in game one while in game two, Christopher Flynn smashed a pair of long balls in a 10-5 RWU victory. After dropping their first game of the season to WPI on Tuesday, Roger Williams got right back on track in their first two matchups against conference foes, improving to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in CCC play.
Misericordia University earned a dramatic split at DeSales to take the season series and give head coach Pete Egbert his 500th career victory, Saturday. After dropping the opener 6-17, the Cougars turned an unusual double play to end a 10-9 win in the nightcap. DeSales appeared to tie the game on a sacrifice fly, but the trail runner was ruled out for leaving early. Matt Lanzendorfer worked 2.2 shutout innings to earn a win for the second straight day and Joe Valenti worked the seventh to earn the save. Brock Bollinger had two hits and three RBI and Connor Maryniak and Derrick Vosburg both drove in two runs. The Cougars took advantage of seven walks and seven hit batters. Joe Comins had three hits for the Cougars in a 17-6 loss in the opener. MU improved to 13-7 overall and 5-1 in the MAC Freedom.
Will Clark tossed seven shutout innings to lift Pacific over Linfield in the series opener. The Boxers' bats went quiet in game two and the Wildcats came away with the 4-2 win to even the series. Pacific's ace earned his fourth win of the season and it made it 16 consecutive innings of scoreless baseball after his incredible outing on Saturday afternoon. Clark struck out nine batters, the second-most punchouts the left-hander has posted this season. The Boise, Idaho native surrendered just three hits, had great command off the strike zone, and kept the Wildcats' hitters off-balance for most of the contest. Another pitcher's duel would commence in the second half of the doubleheader when Kahi Bisho and Linfield's John Over went toe-to-toe for the first four innings. Both starters threw four scoreless frames until the Wildcats opened the scoring with a three-run bomb in the bottom half of the fifth. Lovings launched a solo home run in the sixth inning, his fifth of the year. The Boxers pushed one more across in the ninth, but it was too little, too late and the hosts took game two to split the twin bill.

Sophomore Jonathan Toth tied a school record by homering three times in a 19-5 home win for the Muhlenberg against New Jersey City. On a day that featured wind, rain, sunshine and even some frozen precipitation, Toth proved to be a man for all seasons, hitting a three-run home in the first, a two-run shot in the second and a solo blast in the fourth. He is the third Mule player to hit three homers in a game. Toth, who homered in his final at-bat against Eastern on Friday, ended his streak of home runs in four straight at-bats with a mere RBI single in the fifth. He finished 4-for-4 with seven RBI, one short of the school record for a single game. Toth did set a school record with 13 total bases. His seven home runs this season are already tied for fifth-most on the program's all-time list, two short of the school record for a shortstop. Toth had company in the long ball department as the Mules (11-4) tied a school record with five round-trippers. Senior Ryan Hebert hit his first career home-run, a three-run blast in the second, and senior Thomas Rodgers also connected in the second. The long balls supported the pitching of junior Quinn Rovner, who struck out a career-high 11 batters in a six-inning stint to win his fifth straight start.
Junior Ethan Iannuzzi was a triple short of the cycle, going 4 for 4 with a homer, three runs and three RBI as Randolph-Macon outscored Tufts 10-6 on Saturday afternoon in a matchup of teams receiving votes in the D3baseball.com national poll. R-MC took the lead for good in the third. With two away, Webb drew a walk and came around on a double by senior Spencer Pietruszynski to make it 3-2. Junior Carter Johnson singled to plate Pietruszynski to give the home team a 4-2 lead. Sophomore Wyatt Stanley retired Tufts in order in the top of the eighth. The Yellow Jackets added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth as Iannuzzi belted a home run to left, his fourth dinger of the season, to make it 10-6. Stanley worked around a one-out single in the ninth to secure the win and record his fourth save.
Senior captain Trey Karnes had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs, and freshman Christian Chambers also had two hits, including a home run, in the first game, while freshman Christian Lancaster had three hits and three RBIs, and junior Tymothy Hart added a home run in the second game, as Hampden-Sydney College swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader on the road at Guilford College on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sophomore Ryan Portes gained the pitching victory in relief in the 10-5 win in the opener, and junior Owen Tappy earned the save, while junior Justin Woodall (Mechanicsville) took the mound triumph in the 10-1 win in the nightcap for the visiting Tigers (14-5, 7-2)—winners of eight-straight games—against the host Quakers (4-13, 0-6).
Ryan McCarty drove in eight runs, including a school-record seven in the nightcap, as Penn State Abington completed a three-game series sweep of host St. Mary's College of Maryland by taking two United East Conference games on Saturday. The Nittany Lions pulled out a 3-2 squeaker in the opener before the bats came alive for a 24-7 triumph in the nightcap. Penn State Abington has won four straight to improve to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Seahawks dropped to 5-7, 1-5.
Junior Trey Parker scattered four hits in the opener and classmate Griffin Crane drove in five runs in the nightcap as Plymouth State University took both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Fitchburg State University on Saturday afternoon. Plymouth State ripped six two-baggers and Parker went the distance as the Panthers took game one by a 7-2 margin. Crane had three hits, including his first home run of the year, and drove in five runs as PSU poured it on in game two, taking a 12-3 lead before the umpires called the game in the top of the seventh due to weather.
George Fox split a doubleheader with Whitworth on Saturday with a tough 9-7 loss in game one and a come-from-behind extra-inning win in game two. Sean Wiese went six innings in his no-decision start and struck out six while allowing four runs - three earned - before the Pirates were able to get into the Bruins' bullpen and pull out a late victory. Andrew Sutherland was tagged with his first loss of the season after a third of an inning in the seventh. The Pirates jumped in front again in game two, 5-2, with runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth, before the Bruins were able to even it up at 5-5 in the ninth. Shane White singled and advanced on an error to plate Meffert, and Derek Williams doubled to left field to plate a pair for the tie. After Sangalang reached via an error in the 10th, Meffert lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to right field for the winning run. Meffert then proceeded to retire the side via strikeout and a double-play ball.
After taking game one on Friday, Penn State Harrisburg completed the three-game sweep of United East foe Wells thanks to a pair of convincing victories in doubleheader play on Saturday afternoon. The Lions took the opener 10-1 before closing things out with a 16-4 win in the nightcap. Penn State Harrisburg (8-10, 5-0 United East) used a balanced combination of run production and strong pitching to defeat conference foe Wells (6-11, 2-3 United East) 10-1 in the first outing of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Penn State Harrisburg completed the weekend sweep of conference opponent Wells in impressive fashion, coming away with a 16-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
Dickinson was able to push their win streak to six games with an 8-3 win in game one against The College of New Jersey, before having their run snapped in the second by an 8-4 decision on Saturday afternoon at George Ackerman Park. A scoreless eighth moved game one to the ninth. DC began the frame with a walk to Thompson and a single by Tagliareni to put two on with two gone for Mazzone. He helped to put the game away for the Red Devils with a three-run bomb over the centerfield fence to make it 8-2 heading to last call for the Lions. TCNJ got back into game two in the fifth as a single by Lagravenis and a hit batter setup an RBI opportunity for Cote who delivered with a base hit to right. After a fielder's choice produced the second out of the frame back-to-back knocks by Justin Marcario and JnoBaptiste drove in two more to give the Lions a 5-4 edge going to the sixth. Alec Schwartz came in to try and secure the game for the Lions. He got Mazzone on strikes, but then issued two consecutive walks prior to inducing a game-ending double play out of Torres.
