Mount Saint Mary College finished off a perfect weekend in league play Sunday with 3-2 and 13-0 road victories at Purchase. Liam Horan earned his second win of the season in the opener and Dominick Marzigliano homered and drove in four runs in the game two victory. Sunday's sweep moves Mount Saint Mary to 8-6 overall on the season and to 4-0 in Skyline Conference play. Purchase falls to 6-10 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Spalding took both games from Webster, 12-3 and 5-4 on Sunday. In game one Spadling's ace, Peyton Hood was in control with three runs on four hits and two walks. In his complete game win, he struckout eight. The middle of the line up provide the punch as Eric Bronner and Michael Speck were a combined 8-for-9 with two RBI and six runs scored. Spalding kept the good times coming with five runs in game two before Webster got going in the fourth. The Gorlok's comeback bid fell a run short despite outhitting the Golden Eagles 9-7. Both teams will meet each other on Monday for a single game.

Case Western Reserve University first-year centerfielder Nick Harms hit his third home run as many games, and the bullpen stretched its scoreless streak to 15-straight innings,as the Spartans defeated Emory University 12-3 to clinch a series win over the Eagles in Atlanta, Georgia in the teams' first University Athletic Association weekend of the campaign. The Spartans have now won five of their last seven games to improve to 9-10 overall and ended the first weekend of conference play with a 3-1 league record. Emory dropped to 14-11 following the loss. CWRU's offense totaled 12 hits, en route to recording its second-straight game with a double-digit run total and its fourth overall this season. Harms finished the day two-for-four with three runs scored, a home run, a double, a walk and a stolen base. Junior left fielder Kevin Mackenzie added a three-for-four day at the plate with two runs, two RBIs and a walk. Junior catcher Jack Anderson also tallied a pair of hits, including a double, and stole a pair of bases.

With its 8-6 win over Washington University in St. Louis to open today's doubleheader, New York University matched its best start to a season in program history. The Violets fell 9-4 in the nightcap, but won 12 straight games to open the year for the second time ever (2018). Following its morning victory, NYU was also the lone undefeated team across all three NCAA divisions before falling for the first time this year. The Violets took three of four contests from WashU this weekend to win their first University Athletic Association (UAA) series of 2022. "It is so hard to win a UAA series," said Head Coach Doug Kimbler. "I'm happy about the adjustments and the commitment of our guys."

The University of Rochester emerged on the winning end of a 14-13 slugfest in 12 innings on Sunday afternoon, completing a series sweep over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to open Liberty League conference play. Rochester pushes its record to 13-4 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Engineers drop to 7-8 on the year and 0-3 in the league. First-year Colby Cruser broke a 13-all tie with a pinch-hit solo shot in the top of the 12th inning, scoring what would be game-winning run for Rochester. The one run cushion proved to be enough for reliever Thomas Karpishin who was spectacular out of the bullpen for the second straight day, going 3.2 innings while allowing just one base hit. In game one of Saturday's DH, Karpishin tossed three innings of relief and earned the save in UR's 8-3 win.

St. Olaf College saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Augustana College and a 12-7 setback to Middlebury College at the RussMatt Invitational on Saturday at Chain of Lakes Park. St. Olaf (4-4) held an early 1-0 lead before Augustana (14-3) scored single runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to pick up its eighth-straight win. Middlebury (5-6) used a six-run second inning to jump out to an 8-0 lead and held on the rest of the way in the Oles' second game of the day. After a day off, St. Olaf returns to action with a single nine-inning game against Franklin College on Monday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Chain O of Lakes Park.

Once the Grinnell Pioneers got going Sunday afternoon, there was no stopping them. Trailing 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Grinnell struck for three runs and added five more in the eighth as they breezed to a 10-3 baseball win over Beloit College in the home opener at Pioneer Park. The eighth inning saw Grinnell players punch back-to-back-to-back homers, helping the Pioneers to their first-ever home victory over Beloit in a series dating back to 1895. Grinnell had four homers in the game, the sixth-most in program history, while improving to 1-0 in the Midwest Conference and 3-7 in all games. Luke Porter belted two homers for the Pioneers and Jake Hull tossed an inning of hitless relief while striking out two to get his first victory of the season.

Mitchell College split a doubleheader against Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-1 in the opener and winning 8-1 in the nightcap. Both starting pitchers turned in solid efforts in the first game, with Ian Appleby coming out on top thanks to two late runs from his offense. A two-run single by Ryan Molinari in the sixth inning was the difference, ruining a strong outing from Mitchell's Eddie Kaftan. The Mariners bounced back by scoring the first eight runs of the second game. Mitchell finished with only five hits but benefitted from six walks and four hit batters. Starting pitcher Daniel Driscoll turned in his best effort of the season, tossing 7.0 shutout innings while striking out 10.

DePauw held a 9-3 lead in the seventh, but host Maryville scored six in the seventh and two in the ninth for an 11-10 walk-off win over the Tigers. DePauw dropped to 6-8, while the Scots improved to 14-7. A pair of Maryville hitters drew one-out walks in the seventh before Nelson Smith drove both in with a double. After a pair of hit by pitches loaded the bases, Jimmy Meredith drew a walk to cut the DePauw lead to 9-6. Bowers' grounder scored one before Christian Carlton came home on a wild pitch and Meredith scored after Ian Campbell reached on a bases loaded walk to tie the game at 9-9. Callahan's solo homer in the eighth put DePauw back out in front, 10-9. Meredith led off the ninth by reaching on an error before Bowers singled and Peyton Milam walked. Gabe Lopez delivered a two-out, two-run single that ended the game.

Delaware Valley University earned a four-hit shutout in the opening game of a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom doubleheader at Stevens Institute of Technology, but did not have enough in game two as the Ducks claimed an 8-4 victory. Junior Dalton Moore got the start in the opener that was moved to a 10 a.m. start due to forecasted weather conditions on Sunday. Moore was tremendous in five innings of work and allowed just three hits and six base runners while allowing no runs and punching out two. The biggest threat came in the bottom of the fifth after a single, a walk, and a double steal put runners at second and third for the home team with two outs. The next batter was three-hole hitter Ryan Wall and Moore got him to ground out to the first basemen, Hank Bielen. Bielen provided the offense for DelVal as he went 4-for-4 at the dish and drove in both runs. In the third he hit an RBI single that scored Andrew Panfile, and in the final frame he sent one back up the middle that plated Timmy Lallis.

McDaniel scored four runs in the eighth inning to break open a 5-4 game and top New Jersey City, 9-4. Tyler Yohn led the Green Terror with three hits and drove in two runs. Ryan Kelly struck out six in six innings to improve to 4-0 on the year. Ryan Gibbons pitched a perfect eighth and ninth to earn his fourth save of the year. Tyler Yohn's eighth-inning triple was the team's 24th of the season, which is the most for the Green Terror in a single season since at least 1965.

Jacob Ota hit his third home run of the season, and Joe Schwab earned his second win as Puget Sound completed a three-game southern California sweep with a 7-2 win at Claremont-M-S Sunday afternoon. The Stags took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but the Logger offense came to life in the fourth. Dylan Joyce led off by reaching base on an error, and he moved into scoring position on a passed ball. A fly out by Ota allowed Joyce to move up another 90 feet, and Jonas Kim came through with an RBI single to tie the game. Puget Sound put up three in the fifth inning. Kyle Strash led off with a walk, and Shane Himeda promptly followed with a single. Two batters later, Ota belted a three-run homer over the wall in left-centerfield. Himeda finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate, pushing his batting average to .435 for the season. Schwab pitched three innings in relief of starting pitcher Owen Shellhammer, allowing just one earned run on three hits.

U.S. Merchant Maine Academy picked up its first two Skyline Conference wins on Sunday with routs of Yeshiva University in a doubleheader at Silver Lake Park. The Mariners won the opener, 22-1, and took the second game by the final of 20-0. With the victories, USMMA moves to 7-11 (2-2 Skyline), while the Maccabees fall to 2-13 (0-8 Skyline) in defeat. The Mariners scored 16 runs in the first inning to put the game well out of reach. The Mariners won by the Skyline mercy rule of 10+ runs in seven innings. They scored 10 runs in two innings.

The Rhodes Lynx took home their second SAA series of the season in sweeping fashion, defeating the Centre Colonels 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. The win moves Rhodes to 15-10-1 (6-3 SAA) on the season. Carron was absolutely locked in on the mound, going so far as to strikeout the side in the sixth inning, and adding another K as the final out of the seventh. Andy Hanaway tossed a scoreless eighth, and then handed the reins to John Fears to close out the ninth in the Lynx win.

St. Joseph's College (L.I.) claimed two Skyline Conference contests against Manhattanville College at Gregg Alfano Field on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles held off the Valiants for a 6-4 win in game one before an eighth-inning rally in game two resulted in an 8-4 win to improve to 5-4 on the season with a 4-0 Skyline record. Manhattanville slides to 7-8 overall, 4-2 Skyline. Starter Anthony Cinquemani (2-0) picked up his second win of the season allowing three runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. Michael Manzolillo claimed his second save after allowing one run on two hits with two Ks in an inning of relief. SJC's Charles Aurandt (1-0) sat Manhattanville down in order in the ninth to secure his first win of the season in the nightcap. The freshman tossed three scoreless innings of relief allowing just one base runner.

Nicholas Butler and Jake Delaney each drove in two runs in game three as St. Lawrence University earned revenge for the game two loss with a 6-5 win over Vassar College on Sunday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Saints improved to 9-4 with the game three win and are now 2-1 in Liberty League play. Vassar, who took game two previously to game three, fell to 6-9 and 1-2 in league play. Game two, which was suspended last night due to darkness, was wrapped up before the start of game three with Vassar winning 11-10. Michael Watson, who pitched two innings in relief of Christian Mingione in game three, earned the win for St. Lawrence. M. Watson allowed two hits and one earned run in the effort. Brett Parker pitched one and two-thirds innings allowing no hits and struck out two to earn the save. "We battled all day today with a really good team," said head coach Kenny Collins "It was great to leave with two wins, especially after losing a heartbreaker in the second game. However, we need to be better in late game situations going into our home series next weekend."

Ripon started their 2022 conference schedule out on the right note Sunday afternoon, with a pair of road wins against Monmouth College. The Red Hawks scored three runs in the top of the ninth of game one to win 8-5, before winning the nightcap in a pitcher's duel, 2-1. Jake Pankratz slammed the door on Monmouth in the bottom of the ninth in game one to earn the victory, allowing just one hit in 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Burns, Ott, and Cormac Madigan each recorded two hits, with eight different Red Hawks scoring a run in the contest. In the day's second game, Ripon recorded just three hits, with two coming in the top of the first, including an RBI single by Ott. Monmouth tied things up with a run in the third. That tie lasted until the top of the eighth when Burns scored the go-ahead run on a Monmouth fielding error. Mitchell Lukasik (2-0) hurled a gem, scattering six hits without allowing an earned run and striking out two batters. Caleb Green recorded his first career save, allowing just two hits in two scoreless innings.

Graduate student Thomas Paulich and senior Sutton Dole each homered as the Stevens Institute of Technology defeated Delaware Valley University 8-4 to salvage a split of their MAC Freedom doubleheader Sunday at Dobbelaar Field. The Ducks fell to the Aggies 2-0 in the opener. The split left Stevens with a 15-7 record on the year and a 4-2 mark in league play. "Winning the second game today allowed us to win another conference series," head coach Kristaps Aldins said. "Credit is due to Delaware Valley in game one as they played an excellent overall game."

Lewis & Clark College used a 10-run bottom of the fourth inning, to secure a series victory over league-leading Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon at the Huston Sports Complex. With the win, the Pioneers picked up their first home, conference series victory of the season and tied their season-high by moving three games above .500 (15-12). Lewis & Clark sent 15 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored 10 runs on seven hits, two hit by pitches and two walks. The hosts went into the inning trailing 3-2 and flipped the game on it's head, as they took a 12-3 advantage into the final five innings. Sophomore Luke Bass had a huge day out of the cleanup spot. The left fielder went 2-5 with two runs, a team-best four RBI, a double and a home run. On two occasions, the Lutes pitched around Jack Thomson to get to Bass and the left fielder came through with a two-run hit to make the visitors pay.

 

In a game featuring 23 combined runs and 25 combined hits, Piedmont University topped Brevard 12-11 to claim the conference series. The Lions move to 2-1 in USA South play with the victory. In the home half of the sixth, Piedmont got back to work at the plate with three straight singles capped off with Alex Gonzalez driving in the tying run. Carter Ballstadt recorded his second sac fly of the game to take the lead and put the Lions back on top 12-11. Kyle York earned the win pitching one inning. Tyler Roon entered in the top of the seventh and worked two 1-2-3 innings before giving way to Ballstadt for the ninth inning. Ballstadt struck out the first batter, picked off another at second and ended the game on a pop up to first. The save was the fourth of the season for the senior.

Baruch began their CUNYAC and home schedule on a winning note with a doubleheader sweep of the Beavers of CCNY on Sunday afternoon at Bronx Community College. The Bearcats rode their starting pitching with senior Matthew Lawlor and rookie Nathaniel Demchak pitching compete games in the 6-1 and 5-2 conference wins. The second game was very challenging with steady light snow at times, but not long enough to disrupt action. Lawlor went the distance on the mound with a line of seven innings, five hits, one earned run, and five strikeouts for the conference victory. Demchak pitched the win going the distance with seven innings, six hits, two runs, three walks, and a solid 11 strikeouts.

Junior Kent Wilson had three extra-base hits and drove in five runs as Clarkson University picked up a 7-4 victory over Union College on day two of its three-game Liberty League set on Sunday afternoon. It didn't take long for the Golden Knights to get on the scoreboard as Caleb Doyle led off the contest with a walk and then came around on an opposite field homer by Wilson to put Clarkson up 2-0. In the second, Clarkson racked up three more runs with some two-out magic as Cam Jerrett started a rally when he was hit by a pitch. Michael Tito followed with a single and Caleb Doyle then reached on a bobbled grounder. Wilson then made the Dutchmen pay for the miscue as he doubled to right-center to score all three runners and put Clarkson up 5-0. The Dutchmen put together a rally in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three times and threatening for more, but Nicholas Hofacker got out of a jam with a fly out to end the contest.

Zach Marzetz and Sam Mathews combined on a three-hit shutout as No. 1 ranked Marietta College blanked Wittenberg University, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Park. The Etta Express improves to 15-3 overall, while Wittenberg slips to 8-4 on the season. Marzetz (1-0), a freshman right-hander, gave up a single to the first batter of the game and then allowed a leadoff double in the third inning. After the double, he retired 13 straight Wittenberg hitters. Marzetz worked 6.2 innings and allowed no runs on two hits with two walks and five strikeouts in his first career win. Senior All-American Sam Mathews took over with one runner on and two outs in the top of the seventh inning. He retired seven of the eight batters faced for his fifth save of the spring. Mathews threw 2.1 innings and allowed no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.

The Birmighan-Southern Panthers kept the offensive momentum going in the series finale against Millsaps as they won 10-6 and swept the Majors to improve to 18-5 overall and 7-2 in conference play. Joey White threw six innings of four run baseball with five strikeouts and picking up his third win of the season. The Panther bullpen combined for three innings pitched, allowing one runs, and striking out two to help BSC secure their 18th victory of the season.

Xavier Marmol pitched his third career complete game, leading the 13th-ranked Salisbury University to a 6-2 win and a series sweep over the Hood Blazers on Sunday afternoon at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. The Sea Gulls accepted a gift run to take the lead in the second and manufactured another run in the third thanks to the speed of Kavi Caster. The Sea Gulls made it three fourth scoring innings with one in the fourth and one in the fifth. The Blazers finally broke up the shutout by stealing a run in the top of the seventh. A.J. Haines singled with one out and stole second, then James DeProspero legged out an infield hit to put men on the corners. DeProspero got caught in a rundown trying to steal second and Haines broke for the plate. The throw home beat Haines, but Geesaman dropped the ball and Haines was safe stealing home, getting Hood on the board at 4-1. The Sea Gulls got that run back in the home seventh and another ion the eighth. Hood put up another in the ninth on a Matt Stout leadoff double and two-out RBI infield hit by DeProspero, but Marmol was undaunted, striking out Jack Patterson to finish what he started.

Aurora University took on another conference champion from the 2021 season on Sunday, this time the Big Blue from Millikin University. For the second consecutive weekend, the Spartans swept the series, this time defeating Millikin 11-0 (7 innings) and 6-4. The Spartans wasted no time in scoring in the first game as two batters in and they led 1-0. this was enough for the pitching staff. Spartan starter Jack Fisher allowed the only hit of the game he would surrender in the third inning. He would toss six innings of scoreless baseball while striking out nine. Fisher and Alec Strupp set down the Big Blue in the sixth and seventh for the 11-0 mercy rule win in seven innings. The Spartans added two big runs in the eighth inning in game two with Corey Vondra tripling in two for a 6-1 advantage. Millikin would score three runs in the ninth inning and brought the tying run to the plate against Skyler Yamamoto. Yamamoto would strike out the final Big Blue batter of the game and AU won 6-4.

The Duhawks pulled away in the top of the fifth inning, scoring eight runs on eight hits with Max Cullen getting things going with a lead-off single into right field before Daniel Rogers roped a double into center field to score Cullen from first and put a runner in scoring position. Behind five solid innings by Alex Perez and 11 hits from the Pilgrims lineup, New England College took down No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State University 7-3, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon. The Warriors would tie the game in the bottom of the third inning, as John Mesagno hit a two-run home run, plating Donahue on the play. New England College regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning. Luca Giallongo led off the frame with a single through the left side of the infield. He proceeded to steal second and third before scoring on a Connor Morin single to left. Singles from JD Normand and Tyler Gendron expanded the NEC advantage to 6-3. In the top of the eighth, New England College added an insurance run, as Giallongo had a two-out double to center before scoring on Philibotte single to right. Alex Perez picked up the win for New England College, as he went 5.0 innings with four hits and seven strikeouts.

Will Arnold provided the go-ahead RBI in the sixth inning, and Oglethorpe topped No. 25 Hendrix 5-4 Sunday afternoon in a rubber game that saw the Stormy Petrels win the Southern Athletic Association series. Colin Stewart, Grant Guinther and Will Marconi combined for sixth shutout innings from the fourth inning on as Oglethorpe overcame a 4-3 deficit with a run in the fifth and one more in the sixth. The victory marked the Petrels' second series win of the year through the first three series. Arnold's double in the sixth broke the last tie of 4-4 and brought home Andrew Noack. It also followed a two-run homer from Arnold four innings earlier which gave the Petrels a 3-1 lead. After that, the Warriors chipped their way back into the lead with a three-run third only to be held scoreless the rest of the way. Shota Barbeau had the game-tying RBI in the fifth with a single up the middle, scoring Jonathan Cruz.
