Penn State Abington scored 25 runs in a non-conference contest at Gwynedd Mercy University and came away with a 25-14 victory over the Griffins on Thursday afternoon at the Gwynedd Mercy Baseball Field. Abington scored 11 runs in the opening inning as the Nittany Lions took advantage of seven walks by Gwynedd Mercy pitching. Senior Jaden Himmelreich highlighted the inning with a two-run single. Abington also benefited from two errors by the Griffins as 17 batters came to the plate in the top half of the inning. The Griffins responded in the bottom of the first with 10 runs of their own to make it an 11-10 game after one full inning. Frank Ebling came up with a three-run homer for the home team in the inning. Abington never trailed in the game as the offense stayed hot. Sophomore Mitchell Carmody (1-0) silenced the Griffins' offense as he picked up the victory after 5.1 innings of relief. He held Gwynedd Mercy to just four hits and one unearned run on his way to his first win at Abington. He also struck out a pair of batters.

Keuka College opened their New York schedule in a major way, sweeping Medaille College on Thursday afternoon. Keuka College (5-6) showed an excellent mix of offense and pitching against the Mavericks.The Wolves took game one 18-2 and then held Medaille to one run in the second game, winning the nightcap 8-1. The Wolves improve to 24-9 all-time against Medaille College. Keuka College is 11-2 playing at Medaille and have won their last nine games on the road against the Mavericks. The game one victory for Keuka was the largest win in the 33-game series with Medaille.
In a back-and-forth battle, Suffolk came out on top of Johnson & Wales, 14-12, Thursday afternoon at Scots Miracle Gro Athletic Complex. Suffolk cycled through its line-up in the first to make it a 5-0 gap early on. The Rams found themselves in a sticky situation after the Wildcats used back-to-back three-run innings to eliminated the guest's lead and go in front, 6-5. Ground was made up and then some in the fourth frame as Suffolk scored five runs in a single inning for the second time in the outing to grab a 10-6 advantage and increased it to 14-10 in the middle of the ninth. Caleb Piwnicki, who took over for Pierce Salbego on the mound in the eight, sandwiched strikeouts around a base hit. The Wildcats used erratic pitches and singles to tack on two more runs and slice the distance down to two, 14-12. Piwnicki's defense backed up the relief as Joe Ward gloved a long out in center to preserve the non-conference win. Suffolk and Johnson & Wales met for the first time since 2019 as the Rams snapped a four-game skid against JWU to improve to 40-19 all-time against the Wildcats.
After a 45-minute delay due to rain, Ithaca College pounded out 18 hits and scored at least one run in each of the first seven innings to secure a 19-9 victory over Elmira College on Thursday afternoon at Gutchess Lumber Sports Complex. Ithaca is now 12-4 on the season and is 19-1 all-time against Elmira. Zane Grimes earned the start and tossed 3.0 innings and struck out six batters in the outing for his third win of the year. Dan Kellachan was first out of the bullpen and fanned four batters in 2.0 innings. Matt Chase then struck out a pair in an inning of work and Carter Kowalczyk tossed a hitless seventh inning. Tyler Edelman and Brett Budzak combined to throw the final two innings.
In what looks like, at first glance, to be the score of a football game, we can assure you that the New Jersey City University did in fact win a non-conference clash against Saint Elizabeth University, 23-11, on Thursday afternoon, at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex. The game was officially called due to darkness in the eighth inning, as the Gothic Knights scored the most runs as a program in a single game in seven years, dating back to when they defeated Principia College, 25-16, on March 10, 2015, in Winter Haven, Fla. NJCU (8-9) held a hit parade on the afternoon as three players – senior centerfielder Ricky Voss, junior third baseman Jimmy Vizzoni and sophomore shortstop Justin Moreno – recorded at least five RBI, while each member of that trio also launched two home runs. Junior leftfielder Bryan Fernandez also launched a long ball to join in on the fun. Vizzoni, who had his first-career grand slam and also tripled – both in the bottom of the fourth – came a double shy of the cycle after going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, as well as walking twice. Moreno, who did not have an extra-base yet this season, launched the first two dingers of his collegiate career – one of which was also a grand slam – and finished with a whopping seven RBI.
Hiram reached the double-figure mark for the fourth time this season scoring 17 runs in a non-conference game at Pitt-Greensburg on Thursday afternoon, winning 17-9. Robert James made the start for Hiram going three innings with six strikeouts. In relief, Ben Gustely pitched 2.1 innings recording the win. Additionally, Daniel Quintero Jr. and Jacob Kocuba allowed no runs pitching an inning of relief each. At the plate, Curtis Caithaml and Connor Bansek recorded three hits each. Bansek scored four runs with Caithaml plating two. Kyle Workman, Hal Walker Jr., Evan Fairbanks and Marrs all had two hits in the contest for Hiram. The Terriers' 17 runs scored is the most in the 2022 campaign with the team now scoring more than ten runs in four games this season. Additionally, Hiram has now won four-straight games as conference play approaches.
Western New England punched out three home runs and collected 17 RBIs as a team in their 17-11 slugfest victory over the visiting Beacons of UMass-Boston on Thursday afternoon. Vincent Caccavale and Paul Villecco each connected on grand slam home runs for the Golden Bears in the win, collecting four RBIs each. Western New England would give up the first two runs of the game, though took a quick lead in the bottom of the inning and never lost the lead after that. Four Golden Bears came away with two hits on the afternoon, as Ben Harrison (2-5), Vincent Caccavale (2-4), Joe Webber (2-4), and Cody Waterbury (2-4) would all contribute to the Golden Bears in the win.
Rutgers University-Camden and Ursinus College had to battle more than each other as they played a non-conference game here Thursday. Rain and strong winds added extra challenges for both teams, but after 19 hits, 10 walks, 10 pitchers, four errors and nearly three hours of playing time, the Scarlet Raptors emerged with a 13-5 victory for their fourth straight win. Sophomore Nick Diaz picked up his first win as a Scarlet Raptors, evening his record at 1-1 with six strong innings of four-hit ball. He allowed three runs (two earned) and one walk, while striking out seven. Rutgers-Camden finished with 12 hits, including a 3-for-6 day by Conor Van Dine, who scored twice and knocked home three runs. He raised his team-leading batting average to .400. Andrew Brown went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs as he hiked his average to .382.
Transylvania overcame an early deficit against the Centre College Colonels on Thursday night, winning a big road game 13-9 with a tremendous performance from the bullpen and timely hitting. The Pioneers made some noise right away. The Colonels responded with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, and plated 5 total runs to claim a big early lead. With eight more innings to work with, Transylvania gradually chipped away and eventually led 13-5. In the bottom of the ninth and down by eight, Centre found life again as they scored for the first time since the first. They plated four to make things a bit more interesting, however, Trent Youngblood shut the door on the mound in a do-it-all night, as the sophomore had two big hits and 3 RBI.

Dean won its second game in less than 24 hours with a 10-5 triumph at Springfield College Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when junior Andrew Sullivan knocked in a pair with a single up the middle. Dean doubled its lead in the second with two more runs but in the bottom of the fifth, Springfield pulled within one by scoring on a bases loaded walk. The Bulldogs put across five runs in the eighth inning to take a 10-3 advantage. Springfield scored two in the ninth on a Joe Traversa triple, but the rallied ended there as Dean won 10-5. Dean used a pitcher by committee approach for the game and Carlos Silva was credited with the win. Josh Cerretani finished 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
Alfred State recorded their fourth straight win after beating RIT 13-9 on Thursday in Rochester, N.Y. The Pioneers (6-15) recorded 9 hits, 13 runs, 9 RBIs and 1 error. RIT (12-6) had 11 hits, 9 runs, 7 RBIs and 2 errors. Matteo Avallone went 3-for-5 with 1 walk, 1 RBI and 2 runs. Brody Burdett went 1-for-2 with 1 walk, 5 RBIs and 2 runs. Gavin Moore was walked twice and scored three runs. Nick Serce (W, 1-4) picked up his first win of the season after pitching five innings and allowed four hits, two runs, walked five and struck out six. Chris Baldwin got the save after pitching 0.1 inning.
Ben Bonavita was a jack-of-all-trades, hitting a home run and locking down a six-out save for the Roger Williams University in a tight, 4-3 victory over Babson College on a blustery Bristol afternoon at Paolino Field on Thursday. Christopher Flynn also went yard for the Hawks to back. Connor Hewlette's strong 6.1 innings of work on the bump. Playing in a matchup between consensus top-five teams in the region for the second-consecutive day, RWU once again came out on top to sweep their difficult mid-week slate to improve to 15-1 on the spring. The Beavers on the other hand, fall to 9-6 on the year.
Sophomores AJ Guindon and Will Haskell each collected three hits and drove in two runs apiece to lead Wheaton College (Mass.) over visiting Rhode Island College, 8-6, this afternoon at Sidell Stadium on the Wheaton campus in Norton, Mass. The teams combined for 14 runs and 21 hits with at least one run being scored through each of the first seven innings by either the visitor or home team. Guindon was 3-5 with a triple and two runs scored, while Haskell finished the day going 3-4 for Wheaton. First year first baseman Anthony Teberio was 2-4 with a run batted in and a run scored. Senior starting right-hander Stephen Quigley (3-1) earned the win after giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks to go with five strikeouts in five and a third innings. The Lyons bullpen combined to throw three and two-thirds innings of two-hit scoreless relief, including four outs from senior righty Zach Clesas and a scoreless ninth from right-hander Dom Cunha to pick up his second save of the season. Sophomore right fielder Sean Helfrich paced Rhode Island College, going 2-4 with a home run and two RBI, while sophomore center fielder Cameron Santerre and senior third baseman Jarrad Grossguth each belted a solo home run on the day. First year Jeren Pimentel was 2-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Junior right-hander Connor Davey (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and four walks, while striking out three in six and a third innings.
Nichols College jumped out to a 7-0 lead and cruised to a 9-4 win over Wesleyan (Conn.) University Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at Dressler Diamond. Sophomore Johnny Knox go 2-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI and two runs scored for the Bison (6-10), who also saw junior Will Kleinhenz drove in two runs. Graduate student Nathaniel Cormier and freshman William Naith also plated runs for NC. Knox's solo round tripper in the first capped a four-run outburst and gave Nichols the early lead. He homered again in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-2. Junior Jack Kabel worked two innings of scoreless relief to record the win, his first of 2022. He allowed one hit and struck out three.
SUNY Brockport snagged a 4-3 win over St. John Fisher at home on Thursday in dramatic fashion. In extra innings Matt O'Dair hit a walk-off single to score the game winning run, which extends Brockport's program record win streak to 12. O'Dair was 2-for-5 at the plate in the game with a double and one RBI. With the score tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the 10th, he singled to right field which brought Zach Eldred in to score for the win. Brian Tietjen was 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the contest, his first of the year. Ryan Mansell batted 2-for-5 in this one with one run, one RBI, and a stolen base. Tom Kretzler also had an RBI, going 1-for-3 at the dish and took first base on two hit-by-pitch situations. Justin Pangburn was 1-for-4 with one run scored and Jason Mansell was credited with one stolen base. Colin Pytlak threw 5.1 innings as the Golden Eagles starting pitcher. He gave up two earned runs and struck out five batters on the mound. Adam Douglas and Jake Jempty combined to pitch four innings. Nick Ianniello (2-0) received the winning decision after coming into the game in the 10th to finish it out.
