No. 16 Shenandoah University earned its second victory of the week Saturday with an 11-9 non-league win over Alfred (N.Y.) State.

No. 10th Webster was back in action this morning when they took on #11 Wheaton (Mass.) in Auburndale, Florida. The Gorloks, who defeated the Lyons yesterday by a final score of 11-9, were able to complete the sweep as they won today by a final score of 13-9 to improve to 10-3 on the season. With the loss, the Lyons fall to 2-5 on the year. Webster's bats were rolling today as they finished with a season high 18 hits in the contest. Carter Hunt got the start in this one as he allowed one hit and two earned runs while striking out four in 3.0 innings. Cooper Hake, Joel Arsenault, and Quinn Weber followed Hunt as the three combined to allow two hits and three earned runs over the next 1.1 innings of the game. Ben Kowalski (4-0) picked up the win as he allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out four in 3.2 innings of work. Parker Wielt picked up the final three outs for the Gorloks on the mound. Parker Wielt led the way at the plate as he went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. 

University of Lynchburg swept Washington and Lee for the third-straight time on Saturday. Zack Potts pitched Lynchburg to a 14-3 victory in Game 1, and Nick Mattfield earned the 6-2 win in Game 2. Pott struck out the first batter he faced to begin the afternoon and went on to twirl eighth innings of three-run ball with eighth strikeouts. He earned his fourth win in his longest outing of the season and third-longest of his career. Garret Jackson he opened the scoring in game two with a double to score Lane. Jackson's double sent Mattfield to the mound in the second with the lead, and the sophomore pitcher never relinquished it. He earned his third win of the year with five shutout innings. He also struck out six batters. Mattfield now sports a 2.63 ERA in five starts this year.

Comets had to hold on for a 13-9 victory in the first
game of the doubleheader, which featured an 18-run
7th inning between the two teams.

Saturday at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The 12th-ranked Panthers improved to 15-1 with their sixth straight win, blanking Berea 12-0, and continued the program's best start ever. Joe Ruth had two hits, including his second home run of the season, and a career high five RBIs. Jack Layrisson added three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs. Jared Aldridge had a double included in his two hits and two RBIs. Adam Dorn also had two hits, including a double, while McKinley Erves scored four runs. Baley Coleman (5-0) and Jacob Brown combined to throw the Panthers' second shutout of the season. Coleman gave up four hits in five innings of work, did not walk a batter and struck out four. Brown finished the game with two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out two.

Behind eight strong innings on the mound from Jackson Balzan, eighth-ranked Salisbury University shut down the York (Pa.) Spartans, 9-1, on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. The Spartans manufactured a run to take the lead in the top of the second inning. The Sea Gulls answered and see-sawed in front in the bottom of the second, putting SU on top 2-1. From there the game became a classic pitchers' duel, with Salisbury's Jackson Balzan and York's Steven Hendrix matching each other zero for zero. The Sea Gulls truly got to Hendrix in the seventh to make it 5-1 and continued to add runs for a 9-1 final.

No. 17 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University hosted Hiram College to start the three-game weekend on Fisher Field. The Yellow Jackets (11-1) heavy bats totaled 19 hits and carried them to a win over the Terriers (3-7) by an 18-3 final score. BW was led by junior left fielder Ryan Guggenheim as he batted 3-4, tallying six RBIs with two doubles and a single. Senior All-OAC right fielder Drew Wilson also hit 3-4 and scored three runs while tallying four RBIs.

Marietta College, ranked No. 1 in the national poll, welcomed Saint Vincent College into Pioneer Park for their home opener on Saturday afternoon and swept the Bearcats in convincing fashion. The Etta Express scored at least three runs in each inning of game one from the third inning on to roll to victory, 17-5.  Marietta kept the offense flowing in game two and cruised to a 13-4 victory. The floodgates were opened in the Pioneer fourth and fifth innings.  In the fourth, Drew Wilkinson singled home Trent Castle to begin the inning and Vietmeier singled home Yenzi to finish.  In the fifth, Alex Richter's two-run triple and Hill's two-run homer put the game out of reach. Carson (3-0) pitched five strong innings, giving up only two runs and striking out seven. Danford came back for game two, working two innings and striking out four while giving up two earned runs.  Jeremy Kruezweiser (0-1) pitched four innings for the Bearcats and gave up seven runs (only four earned) on nine hits.

25th ranked Washington & Jefferson College split a pair of games with Beloit College in action Saturday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The Presidents suffered a 9-7 loss in extra innings in game one. W&J responded with a 5-2 victory in game two to gain the split. Beloit broke a 2-2 tie with a single run in the third before adding three more runs in the fourth. Down to its final three outs, W&J put together a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. W&J had a chance to win it but a strikeout with the bases loaded ended the threat and sent the game to extra innings. The Buccaneers pushed three runs across in the top of the eighth inning. W&J made things interesting in the bottom of the frame after a leadoff pinch hit double by Nolan Lutz but was unable to close the gap. W&J and Beloit battled through six innings again in game two, as the two teams were deadlocked in a 2-2 tie entering the top of the seventh. A bunt single by freshman Jacob LaDuca sparked a decisive three-run inning for the Presidents.

their way back to Iowa after a week long trip to Florida
where they competed in the RussMatt Central Florida
Invitational. In their first series back, the Duhawks took
on the Rams from Cornell College (3-7, 0-0 Midwest),
seeing the Duhawks take game one 12-5 before
dominating the second game, scoring a staggering 23
runs in the seven inning game.

Shane Mugnolo allowed four hits and three runs, two earned, over six innings and Cortland held off a late Johnson & Wales comeback bid as the Red Dragons defeated the Wildcats, 10-9, in the final game of a three-game series between the schools. Mugnolo struck out three batters and walked two as he earned his first win of the season. Mike Hennessy, Cortland's third reliever, picked up the save after giving up one unearned run on two hits in the ninth. James Varian was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI and Mat Bruno finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored.

Bethel University closed out its spring eight-game spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla. with a bang knocking off previously unbeaten and No. 4 nationally-ranked Eastern Connecticut State, 9-1. The freshman arm of Max Sutter (3-0) picked up the win holding a team that came in averaging 11 runs a game to zero in his eight innings of work. Sutter struck out eight along the way giving up two hits and walking none. Sutter gave up his first extra-base hit of the day in the eighth but finished the frame with a backward K. Blake Williams came out of the pen in the ninth giving up one run on three hits before inducing a flyout to seal the victory for BU.

The 18th-ranked Trinity Tiger took both ends of a doubleheader against SCAC rival Southwestern University as they wrapped up an impressive series sweep on Saturday to open up conference play. The Tigers trailed in both games, but Trinity fought back to grab the lead in each and managed to hold on for their fourth and fifth consecutive victories. Trinity's record is now 10-5 while Southwestern leaves San Antonio at 7-8. Left handed pitcher Samuel Conte fanned nine Pirates across six solid innings to pick up the game one win that had the exclamation point placed on it by catcher Tyler Pettit's three-run blast over the left field fence. Game two saw right handed pitcher Jack Martinez strike out seven Pirates in four innings during his start. Reliever Harrison Durow picked up the win out of the bullpen thanks to five punchouts in three innings, and Colt Harris provided a jolt offensively with two hits and a pair of RBI.

With a 16-run offensive outburst, Case Western Reserve University upset 15th-ranked Denison University 16-12 in the team's rainy home opener at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday. The 16 runs are the most for CWRU since the team scored 21 in a victory over the College of Wooster on May 16, 2021, the Spartans last home game. Junior first baseman Nick Talarico hit his first career grand slam and finished the day two-for-three at the plate with four runs batted in, two runs scored, and three walks. Both junior second baseman Trey Haley and graduate student shortstop Jacob Lott drove in three runs for the Spartans with Lott going three-for-four and Haley going three-for-five with two steals. Junior catcher Jack Anderson had his first career four-hit game, going four-for-six at the plate with two runs scored and one batted in. Sophomore starting pitcher Reece Marley earned his second win of the season, pitching four and two-thirds innings and allowing just one run on three hits. He added four strikeouts before getting pulled after a one-hour rain delay.

Staging two late-game comebacks North Central College won both ends of their doubleheader against the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday at Zimmerman Stadium. Game one saw the Scarlet Hawks take a 7-0 lead through the first four and a half innings of play. Jared Wojcik sparked the Cardinals' offense in the bottom of the fifth inning when he hit a lead-off double. North Central loaded the bases for in the sixth and tied the game at seven. Micahel Davis plated John Petty on an RBI single. With two on and two out, Trey Roach hit a clutch pinch-hit double before stealing third and scoring on a wild pitch to give the Cardinals a 10-7 lead. After the Scarlet Hawks scored a run, Nolan Shannon came in and closed the door to earn his third save of the season. Corbett picked up his first career win while both Listi and Swenson tallied three hits. Petty drove in four runs to secure the 10-8 win for North Central. Game two showcased the new lights turned on for the first time at Zimmerman Stadium. The Scarlet Hawks took a 6-3 lead but a late push put the Cardinal ahead. In the bottom of the eighth, North Central loaded the bases and two straight hit by pitches and a pinch-hit RBI single to knot the game at 6-6. Dom Listi scored on an IIT error which capped off the 10-run eighth inning. Joe McKermitt finished the Scarlet Hawks off in the ninth as he earned his first win of the year.

Oswego State took down the Blue Jays of Johns Hopkins by a score of 6-4. The Blue Jays have been ranked as high as No. 5 in the country this season. As of the Week Three D3 Baseball Poll the Blue Jays are ranked No. 13 in the country. The contest started off as a pitching battle, between both teams the Lakers and Blue Jays only allowed three hits through two innings. In the bottom of the third inning, the Lakers found their groove. With three doubles in the sixth inning the Blue Jays crawled back to cut their deficit to only one run and tie the ball game with a single shot home run in the eighth. The Lakers retook the lead on a pinch-hit, single and a bases loaded walk. The Lakers got the job done in the ninth inning, earning the 6-4 victory.
