CTX announces Clint Mokry as head coach

AUSTIN, Texas – Concordia Texas University has officially announced Clint Mokry as the head baseball coach. After being hired in the summer of 2009 and serving the past 13 seasons as Associate Head Coach on the staff, Mokry will now lead and look for continued success at Concordia. He will begin his duties immediately.

Ronda Seagraves, Vice President for Student Experience and Athletics, said that Mokry "I am thrilled to name Coach Mokry to this position. His knowledge of Concordia, experience with the conference and dedication to our student athletes will continue to produce strong teams and individuals. Coach Mokry understands the University mission, vision and values and is committed to leading our team and serving the University."

As the Associate Head Coach on the CTX baseball staff, Mokry was primarily responsible for overseeing the training and development of the Tornados pitching staff while also playing a role in every day-to-day activity such as recruiting, organizing fundraisers and summer camps. He is also a two-time member of the ASC Coaching Staff of the Year (2012, 2018).

In his 13 seasons, the Tornados have won three ASC Tournament titles (2011, 2012 and 2019) and three regular season championships (2014, 2016 and 2018). Concordia Texas also made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Regionals in 2017, 2018, 2019 which was the first time since the 2011 and 2012 seasons where CTX had made a regional appearance in back-to-back years. Mokry and the Tornados also made history when they reached the first ever Division III Super Regionals in 2019.

Reflecting on his newly appointed position, Mokry said, "I am honored to be the Head Coach at Concordia and continue the proud tradition of excellence set forth by the wonderful baseball alumni and past coaches of this University including Coach Faszholz, Keller, Gardner and Boggs. Coach Boggs was a great man and an integral part of my baseball career and life on and off the field for over 32 years.  I can't thank him enough for being a mentor and friend to me and all the lessons he taught me in our time together.  The goal of Concordia Baseball will always be to compete at the highest level and to instill the values of the University into the players of this program in order to produce great men that obtain life lessons through their experiences within the baseball program.  I want to thank our President Don Christian, our Provost Kristi Kirk, and Ronda Seagraves our Director of Athletics for having the confidence in me to step into this role.  Our entire coaching staff highly values the time we spend with our players and are excited about the upcoming spring season."

Prior to coaching, Mokry was a four-year letter winner as a pitcher at TCU from 2001-04. He was also a standout hurler on the scholastic level, leading Taylor High School to the Texas UIL Class 3A Regional Finals while garnering all-state laurels in 1999 and 2000.

Mokry, who was initially drafted by the Kansas City Royals in June of 2000 after earning his high school diploma, graduated from TCU with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in criminal justice. He resides in Taylor, Texas with his wife, Haley and his two children, Madison (6) and Major (4).
