Franklin & Marshall (2-8) picked up a nonconference victory over York (Pa.) (3-5), 8-5, in the Diplomats' home opener at Caplan Field Tuesday afternoon. Despite the cold and windy day, the F&M offense heated up in the late innings to outlast the Spartans. Tied at 5-all in the bottom of the seventh inning, center fielder Spencer Berson was hit by a pitch to get on base with one out. Berson then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Otterbein led 4-2 approaching the midway point after a big third inning but the Gators captured some momentum with a trio of runs in the bottom of the fifth. A patient Otterbein offense soon got to the Allegheny bullpen. It was a familiar sight for the Lions faithful as the comeback kids were at it again with another 8th inning rally to claim a 7-6 win over Oglethorpe Tuesday. The win marked the second 8th inning rally at Loudermilk in a row and the third of the season at the Jug. The fourth inning is when Oglethorpe began to rally with three runs of their own to make it a one run game, but that was the start of a 5-0 run for the Stormy Petrels as they claimed a 6-5 lead in the seventh. Piedmont was able to answer back with one in the seventh to tie it up, but it was once again eighth inning heroics that proved to be the difference.

After a low-scoring start to the matchup, Wheaton posted four runs in a crucial sixth inning to create some breathing room between themselves and their Pennsylvania opponents. The Beavers, however, would begin to chip away. Calvin Harris added on again in the fifth with his third RBI hit of the game.
