Scranton, Pa. — Joseph Bruno became the first Marywood University baseball player to hit for the cycle.

Marywood University found its offensive footing in a 16-9 victory over Clarks Summit University Tuesday in a non-conference baseball game held at University of Scranton's Volpe Field. The Pacers had the third-most hits (23) in program history for a single game.

Bruno tied a school record with five runs scored. He went 4 for 5 with three RBIs and two stolen bases.

After tripling in the second, doubling in the third and singling in the sixth, Bruno led off the eighth inning with a solo home run to complete the cycle. It was just Bruno's second home run of his career.

Christian Michak was just a triple shy of a cycle in a 4 for 4 effort. He had two runs, two stolen bases, and five RBIs. AJ Giannetti batted 3 for 6 with two runs and two RBIs.

Adam Ginsberg, Vinny D'Auria, Max Slusser and Quinton Roma each had multi-hit games.

Marywood recorded nine extra-base hits on the afternoon.

After Marywood went ahead 6-1 in the top of the second, the Defenders responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame.

Bruno reclaimed the lead for the Pacers in the third, scoring on an infield error. Clarks Summit mirrored the Pacers' third with a run of their own off of an error to even the score at 7-7.

Marywood put the game out of reach with seven straight runs in the middle innings.

Giannetti singled to lead off the fourth inning. Quinton Roma singled to left field to score Giannetti for an 8-7 lead. Michak hit a two-out double to center field that gave Marywood a 10-7 advantage.

Tiedemann (2-0) earned the win with three innings pitched without an earned run. Tiedemann allowed just one hit and one run.

Tyler Quick and Matthew Klipple shut down the Defenders in the back of the bullpen effort. Quick threw a perfect inning with one strikeout. Klipple yielded two hits and no earned runs in two innings.

Marywood (11-12) continues Atlantic East Conference play Thursday with a home series against Gwynedd Mercy.
