Rhode Island College has named Cody Kauffman as its new head baseball coach.

"I'm incredibly grateful to Athletic Director Don Tencher and the entire committee for this opportunity to lead the baseball program at Rhode Island College," Kauffman said. "The Anchormen have a history of success that will help us build the future here. I'm excited to get to work."

Kauffman enters his first season as head coach at Rhode Island College after a brief stint as an assistant coach at UMass Lowell and two years as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Franklin Pierce University. His responsibilities with the Ravens included directing new player recruitment, preparing daily practice routines and working with hitters and position players. Kauffman also served as the first base coach for the Ravens and helped the team reach the Northeast-10 Championship and NCAA Div. II East Regional Championship last season.

Prior to his time at Franklin Pierce, Kauffman spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Merrimack College. With the Warriors, he served as the hitting coach and defensive coach, helping the team become a top-25 fielding percentage team in the nation.

Kauffman has also spent time with USA baseball as the general manager for the U-12 national team, which he helped lead to a gold medal at the Baseball World Cup. He also served as the collegiate national team coordinator at USA Baseball. Prior to that, he worked as the minor league video coordinator for the Chicago Cubs for two years.

After playing two years at Massachusetts, Kauffman moved to Franklin Pierce where he spent two seasons. He served as team captain and was a Rawlings Gold Glove recipient. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management before earning an MBA with a leadership concentration, both at Franklin Pierce.
