PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Lakeland University has promoted Kevin Post to the position of head baseball coach, Director of Athletics April Arvan has announced.

Post moves up to the head spot after two-plus years as an assistant with the program. He joined the Muskies in 2021 first as a volunteer assistant coach, then as a part-time assistant and was most recently hired as the team's full-time assistant coach.

Post has nearly 20 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level and came to Lakeland with a wealth of successful collegiate coaching experience at multiple levels. He served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at NCAA Division II Upper Iowa University from 2004-15, and has also served as pitching coach at NAIA Doane (Neb.) College, a two-year school in Alabama, and NAIA member Union (Ky.) College.

Post also has held head coaching positions with the Due West Indians (S.C.) of the Southern Collegiate League and the Sheboygan A's of the Wisconsin State League. He also spent time as an associate scout for the Seattle Mariners during the mid-2000s.

In his coaching career, Post has seen two of his pitchers taken in the MLB amateur draft (Nate Zettler, 20th round, Kansas City, 2002 and Joaquin Canizal, 31st round, Toronto, 2003). Two also signed to free agent contracts (Bryan Heaston, Seattle, 2002 and Josh McKeon, Cleveland, 2011), and catcher Ryan Arp was drafted in the 45th round in 2008 and reached AAA with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Post graduated cum laude with a degree in sports management from the University of Charleston, an NCAA Division II member in Charleston, W.Va. A varsity pitcher, he compiled a 5-0 record with one save and a 3.68 ERA his junior season which helped UC to set the then-school record for most wins in a season. He holds master's degrees in health and physical education from Union College in 2003 and his master of arts in teaching from Carroll University in 2021. Post is a graduate of Kiel High School and lives in Kiel.
