Hardman wins 200th with Stars

Auburndale, Fla.- The Dominican University baseball team would play a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona.

Game 1 Results:
Dominican: 9
Penn State Altoona: 3

How it Happened:
-DU got going early scoring in the top of the first inning with Sophomore Zach Helein hitting an RBI single. Junior CJ Kalekas continued with an RBI triple to right field. The last run in the inning was scored by Sophomore Niko Krecu hitting an RBI single to left field.
-Freshman Quinton Schwartz added a run in the top half of the second with an RBI single up the middle. DU added another on a throwing error by the catcher.
-Senior Matt Galdi hit a sacrifice fly to left field in the top of the fourth. Getting the lead to a 7-0 for the Stars.
-Dominican would score two more runs in the top of the fifth. The first being by a sacrifice fly by the Junior Braiden Galvin, and the second with Helein getting his second RBI single.
-Penn State Altoona would get on the board in the bottom half of the sixth inning by scoring a run on 3 hits.
-The Lions would added 2 more in the bottom of the seventh making the final score 9-3.
-This win would be Coach Steve Hardman's 200th career win as the head coach of the Dominican University baseball team.

Shining Stars:
-Sophomore Zach Helein went 2 for 2 with an RBI, a run scored, and 2 walks.
-Senior Grayson Downing went 4-5 with with 3 runs scored, 3 stolen bases.
-Sophomore Niko Krecu went 3 for 4 with an RBI.
-Freshman Quinton Schwartz went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's
-Senior Payton Brooks pitched 6 innings and 3 strikeouts. Only giving up one run.

How it Happened:
-This game Penn State Altoona would get on the board first with a run on 2 hits.
-The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Lions until they got 2 runs on a hit in the top half of the fourth inning.
-Dominican's bats would wake up in the bottom of the sixth inning tying the game up at 3 on a hit.
-The scoring would start with Junior Braiden Galvin hit a double to right center field bringing in 2 runners. The tying run would score on a throwing error by the second baseman of the Lions.
-The game would go into extra innings with the score knotted at 3.
-Penn State Altoona scored in the top of the 8th inning with a run on two hits.
-Dominican had last wraps though, and would walk it off with a 2 RBI single to left field by Senior Anthony Nalbono.

-Senior Anthony Nalbono would win the game for the Stars in his only plate appearance of the game, going 1 for 1 with 2 RBI's
