Cortland scored seven runs over the first four innings and the Red Dragons defeated visiting Vermont State University Castleton, 9-6, in non-league action at Wallace Field. Cortland won its 11th straight game to improve to 17-8-1 on the season. Mat Bruno finished 3-for-4 with a triple, hit by pitch, two RBI and three runs scored. Nolan Smith went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and two RBI. Adam Mieczkowski was 1-for-2 with a hit by pitch and two runs, while Luke Schartner and Zachary Kringdon each went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Matthew Nochowitz started and was awarded the win after allowing two runs on six hits over four and two thirds innings. He fanned three batters. Nochowitz, now 4-0, left in the fifth due to a predetermined pitch count with Cortland leading 7-2. Mikey Wandell, the last of Cortland's four relievers, entered in the seventh with two outs and a runner on and the Red Dragons up 7-4. He gave up one hit, four walks and two runs with four strikeouts over the final two and a third innings for the save.
Plattsburgh State handled business in their opener, taking down Clarkson for the second time this season with a 7-1 win over the Golden Knights. Plattsburgh held them to just one run with six different pitchers while Nick Cergol reached base four times and drove in two runs. Chris Santic earned the win on the mound despite giving up the only run in two innings of work to move to 3-2 on the season. Kolby Mordecki started the game with a scoreless inning, with Santic following and Andrew Veit pitched after, working two scoreless innings striking out three. Jack Castillo tossed two scoreless innings as well while Logan Avin and Dylan Bass each recorded scoreless innings.
Matthew Seavey tossed seven scoreless innings to lead Bridgewater State University to a 10-2 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over visiting Fitchburg State University on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Park. Seavey (5-0) fanned six batters and allowed just two hits to record his team leading fifth win of the season. He walked two and hit a batter. The Bears' offense broke open a tight game with a seven-run eighth inning. Jay Wladkowski reached safely three times for the Bears in five plate appearances as he singled, walked, and was hit by a pitch. Wladkowski also stole a base, scored two runs and made a couple of terrific running catches in right field.
Wisconsin Lutheran College continued its stretch of 11 games in 10 days with a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Maranatha Baptist on Thursday at Neumann Family Field by scores of 17-3 and 4-0. The Warriors (8-19), who scored a season-high 17 runs in the opener, tallied at least one run in every inning against the Sabercats (0-23). Oliver Lopeztello, Elijah Shevey, Nick Fryhover, and Ethan Schoeps had two each hits for WLC in game one. Robertson drove in three runs. Junior Tyler Danko picked up his first win of the season on the mound by allowing just one hit over 5.0 innings while striking out four. Senior Foster Engelhardt started the scoring for Wisconsin Lutheran in the first inning of game two with a single that scored fellow senior Henry Strupp. This was all Cody Fredrick needed. he pitched a complete-game, one-hitter in his first collegiate start. He struckout six and did not walk a batter.
New Jersey City University picked up a huge road victory today, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference clash with neighboring Rutgers-Newark. Ali Pompey gave up just two earned in his start, and the squad put up eight on the Scarlet Raiders pitchers on Thursday afternoon. NJCU defeated Rutgers-Newark 8-3 at Weequahic Park. The key inning for the Gothic Knights was the four run third. They added runs in the next two innings to put the game on ice. Jeremy Ricourt went 2-5 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ray Gelok reached base safely in all four plate appearances (2-2, two walks); also had two runs scored. Pompey went 6+ with just two earned runs, gave up just five hits, and had six strikeouts.
Roger Williams University beat Rhode Island College, 8-6, on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The game was played on Paolino Field. Matthew Donovan started the game on the mound for the Hawks, pitching 2.2 innings with four earned runs, with eight hits and three strikeouts. Nolan Niziol pitched three innings in relief, giving up no runs and striking out two. Ryan Camp and BrettLauterbach also had scoreless outings in relief. The Roger Williams offense was led by Owen Hibbard, who went 2-2 with two walks, two runs, and one RBI. Ty Cali recorded two RBIs in the game and stole a base. Aidan Hawley went 1-2 with a double and drew three walks.

Senior Cole Lalli finished with three hits, including two home runs, one double, five RBI, and four runs scored, helping power Mitchell College past the University of Hartford 15-6 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. Lalli's first home run was a solo shot to left field which came in the bottom of the second inning, and accounted for the first run of the day for the Mariners. The senior added another solo blast to left field in the bottom of the sixth, and in-between laced a bases clearing double down the left field line. The two homers were the most in a single game for Lalli in his collegiate career, while the five runs driven in fell one short of his season high six RBI against SUNY Brockport. Senior Jack Hayes added his first home run of the season for the Mariners, who scored 10 or more runs for the sixth time this spring.
RIT sophomore designated hitter Roberto Reade goes 2-for-4, including a two-run homer to lead the Tigers to a 5-4 victory against Alfred State, Thursday. Alfred State tied the game 3-3 in the sixth off of two RBI doubles. In the bottom of the eighth, Roberto Reade earned an RBI double that scored sophomore first baseman Trent Rapp. The next batter, senior utilityman John Bagley hit a RBI single up the middle that scored graduate student pinch runner Zach Mecca, putting the Tigers in front 5-3. With a man on first and third, the Pioneers stole second base and then stole home, cutting RIT's lead to one in the top of the ninth. Sophomore relief pitcher Luc Rising was able to shut out Alfred State for the rest of the inning, earning the save for the Tigers.
Jason Morgan hit a grand slam and Pat Defeciani hit two homers as #18 Rowan broke out of a four-game skid by dominating Rutgers-Camden, 20-5, in NJAC action. The Profs improve to 14-8 and 2-5 in the league. Morgan went 3-for-4 with four RBI as he hit his first career grand slam and the Profs' first of the year. Defeciani had a two-run home run and a solo homer to score three times and drove in five runs, while Tyler Cannon went 4-for-6 at the plate and scored three runs as Rowan totaled 20 runs on 19 hits. Phil Sedalis hit a home run as well as he scored three times. Thomas Sullivan (2-0) went 6.0 innings for the Profs and recorded three strikeouts to earn the victory, with Nick Cugino, Dylan Maria and Ronald Barnebei each working an inning in relief.
Framingham State University rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth including a three-run triple from Dane Frellick as the Rams rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Lasell 8-4 this afternoon at Bowditch Field. The Lasers grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Rams cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly to center from Shane Costello. Lasell added a single run in the top of the sixth pushing the lead back to three runs. In the bottom of the seventh, Costello drove in his second run of the game with an RBI single up the middle. JC Espinal tied the game with a two run single to center. After the Rams loaded the bases, Frellick delivered a bases clearing triple to right giving the Rams a 7-4 lead. The Rams added a final run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from Ryan Boyle to reach the final score. Brady Perkins started on the hill for the Rams and did not factor in the decision. Perkins went five innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Joshua Santiago earned the victory by tossing three innings in relief allowing one earned run on two hits. Alexander Montero earned the save, tossing a scoreless inning without allowing a hit. Espinal finished the game 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI, while Costello finished the game 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
UMass Boston won the ninth of their last ten games following the Beacons' game two victory over the Rams of Suffolk University from the Beacs' home stadium of Monan Park in Boston, MA. The Beacons had a bullpen day over the Rams, sending nine different pitchers to the mound for action in the 5-4 victory over the Rams. Thomas Kierce started on the bump for UMass Boston and was the only pitcher to see two innings of action, as Kierce was credited with his second win in three games. Kierce faced seven batters and struck out six of them on just 34 pitches thrown. Senior Tim Cianciolo came in to pitch to close the game out in the top of the ninth inning as he would be credited for his second save of the season. As a team, the Beacons provided five runs on as many hits. Senior Aidan Blake and sophomore Max Garner led the team offensively, each recording two hits. Blake batted in two runs off a double in the first inning for a team-high in RBIs.
