KENOSHA, Wis. -The Carthage Baseball team took on the Wisconsin-Oshkosh at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Firebirds gained momentum throughout the middle innings, securing the large profit win. The win marks a monumental milestone for Head Coach Augie Schmidt IV as he secures his 1,000th victory in his 37th season as Head Coach at Carthage College.

How it Happened
- The Titans came out of the gate swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning.
- AJ Gaca singled to right field, driving in Matt Felber for Carthage's first run of the game. The Firebirds' run streak did not stop there. Evan Devine singled to the right field, scoring Zander Tubbs and Joe Zuleger, who tied it at three.
- At the top of the third, the visitors scored two runs from a two-run home run.
- Oshkosh scored another run from a sacrifice fly to right field in the fourth.
- The Firebirds started to find gaps in the bottom of the fourth as P.J. Moser doubled to the deep right center, allowing Zuleger to touch home.
- Tubbs scored from Drew Knecht's walk. Kody Krekling hit a grounder up the middle, scoring Gaca and Moser. Zuleger came up for his second at-bat of the inning and placed a ball in left field, bringing home Krekling and Knecht. The firebirds led, 9-6.
- Oshkosh scored two runs from a single to center in the top of the fifth.
- With bases loaded, Knencht tapped a blooper to the third baseman, reaching base on an error and scoring Tubbs.
- Krekling followed with a ball to right field, scoring Gaca.
- The Firebirds tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly from Max Cairo, pushing Devine to touch home. In the bottom of the 5th inning, the score read 12-8, Carthage.
- Carthage's defense proved unstoppable, turning a double play to clear the bases in the eighth.
- Carthage held the Titans final inning to take the win, 12-10.
High Flyers
- It was a big day for the Carthage bullpen as Nate Turpin picked up the win only allowing two runs through 1.2 innings of work.
- Nick Caruso pitched 3.1 innings of work only allowing two hits.
- P.J. Moser and Joe Zuleger hit doubles in the game as Zander Tubbs went four-for-four.
- Kody Krekling drove in three runs, and Zuleger and Evan Devine drove in two.
- Head coach Augie Schmidt IV becomes the 13th coach in Division III to reach the 1,000 career win milestone and only the ninth coach to reach the milestone at one institution.
- Coach Schmidt is the fourth among active Division III coaches to cross the milestone and 22nd active across all divisions.
