The Misericordia University baseball team jumped out to a quick lead and cruised to a 12-3 win over DeSales to win its sixth straight MAC Freedom Championship, Monday night at Owls Field in West Lawn.

Tim Burek allowed just one earned run over 7.1 innings and Kyle Lindsay had three hits and drove in two runs.  Miles Westrich had two hits and four RBI and Freedom Tournament MVP Mike Comerford drove in two runs.

Kenny Jarema had two hits and Vinny Annunziata drove in two runs.

The Cougars used four walks to take a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.  After three straight walks to open the inning, Mike Comerford lofted a sacrifice fly to left field for the game's first run.  Jeremy DeCotiis walked to re-load the bases and Annunziata lined a two-run single to left to make it 3-0.  After a pitching change, Westrich rolled a two-run single through the right side to put MU up, 5-0.

DeSales used two singles and a wild pitch to get a run back in the top of the second and Burek got a strikeout with two runners on to end the inning.

Lindsay led off the bottom of the second with a one-hop double off the left field fence and moved to third on Kenny Jarema's hard single through the right side.  D.J. Navoczynski followed with a sacrifice fly to deep center to make it 6-1.

DeSales used a single and a two-out error to score an unearned run in the top of the third to get within 6-2.

The Cougars answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.  After DeSales second baseman Tyler Sweeney made a diving stop to his left for the first out, Lindsay looped an inside-out single to right and stole second in front of Jarema's triple off the right field wall to put MU up 7-2.  Navoczynski was walked intentionally and blooped an opposite-field single to right to make it 8-2.  Annunziata reached by hit by pitch to load the bases and Westrich's soft liner to center scored two more to stretch the lead to 10-2.

Tommy Epsaro hit a two-out double to right center in the seventh, but Burek induced a come-backer to end the inning.

Reda reached via hit by pitch pinch-runner Conor Smith moved to second on Boroch's single to right.  Both runners came home on Lindsay's two-run triple to the left center field wall to put MU ahead, 12-2 in the seventh.

DeSales scored a run and loaded the bases in the top of the ninth, but Dillon Del Rosso got two strikeouts to end the game.

Misericordia, 34-11, will host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional next week at PNC Field.
