DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Kevin Murphy (Middletown, Md./Middletown) became the school's all-time RBI leader as the Wolverines swept visiting Gallaudet 16-9 and 13-4.

Murphy entered the season tied with former teammate Grant Morlock with 130 career runs batted in.  In the second inning of the first game, he knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly for his 131st RBI, then added three more over the course of the day to finish at 134.

The senior also had hits in both contests to run his hitting streak to 35 games, dating back to last year.  With the pair of wins, Wesley ran its win streak to 15 games after winning its final 11 games last season.

In the opener, the Bison (0-2) scored twice in the first to take an early lead, but the Wolverines (4-0) quickly erased the deficit with four runs in the bottom of the inning.  Corey Jefferson (Wilmington, Del./Archmere) hit his first career home run to make it 2-1, then three more runs came in on an error in the outfield with the bases loaded to make it 4-2.

After Murphy's sac fly made it 5-2, Gallaudet made it a one-run game with RBI singles by Casey Hicks and Chris Quinn in the third inning.

A solo homer by Seth Hastings (Seaford, Del./Sussex Tech) made it 6-4 in the third, then Rob Benedict (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) singled, advanced all the way to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.

Morgan Rupp (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) added an RBI double in the fourth before the Wolverines broke it open with a five run fifth that made it 13-4.  Jefferson ripped an RBI double in the inning and the Wolverines added two-run singles by Jon Carlson (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) and Hastings before the inning was over.

Gallaudet fought back with three in the top of the sixth, but Wesley matched it in the bottom of the frame with RBI singles by Murphy and Rich Lober (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and a run scoring ground out by Steve Perone (Skillman, N.J./Montogomery)

The Bison tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to finish the scoring.

Jordan Lozzi (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) picked up his first win as a Wolverine, striking out five in four innings of work.

Bryan Reshetar (Newark, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) led the Wolverines with three hits, while Benedict, Jefferson, Murphy, and Hastings each had a pair.

William Bissell had a four hit effort for Gallaudet.

Ryan Hastings took the loss, allowing 13 runs, four earned, in 4.2 innings.

The Bison took an early lead in the second game, as well, on a solo homer to left by William Chapman.  Wesley, however, fired right back with a seven run explosion in the bottom of the inning.

Benedict led off the inning with a double, stole third and scored on a fielder's choice by Murphy to tie the game.  Reshetar knocked in a run to give the Wolverines the lead before a two-run doubles by Perone and Billy Crowe (Newark, Del./Salesianum) made it 6-1. Benedict drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single.

Chris Kitlas (Waldorf, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added an RBI single in the second before Gallaudet answered with three runs in the fourth.  Tommy Barksdale had a two-run triple and scored on a grounder by Quinn.

Wesley then added a five spot in the sixth before the game was called with two outs in the frame due to darkness.  Crowe was credited with an RBI after walking with the bases loaded, Jefferson ripped a two-run single and Murphy followed with his final hit of the day to drive in a run.

Perone went 3-for-3, walked and drove in a pair.  Benedict, Murphy and Reshetar each had two hits.

Ryan Doran (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) notched his second win of the year, fanning six in five innings.  Michael Berry (Milford, Del/Milford) tossed a perfect sixth in relief.

Chapman took the loss for the Bison, allowing eight runs in four innings.

Wesley travels to Randolph-Macon on February 23 for a 2:00 PM contest.
