ASHLAND, Va. - The Wesley College baseball team headed south to Randolph-Macon where the Yellow Jackets picked up a 4-2 win over the Wolverines.

Wesley (4-1) had a pair of impressive streaks entering the day.  Kevin Murphy(Middletown, Md./Middletown) picked up two hits to extend his hitting streak to 36 games, but the Wolverines 15-game win streak came to a halt.

The game started out with Wesley's Andrew Cooper (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine)and the Yellow Jackets' Jamie Hendrick locked in a pitcher's duel.  It wasn't until Randolph-Macon got a two-run double from Jordan Walton in the fifth that either team got on the scoreboard.

The Yellow Jackets used a Wesley error to take a 3-0 lead in the sixth before the Wolverines answered back.  In the top of the seventh, Jon Carlson (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) ripped an RBI single and Wesley cut it to 3-2 when a Randolph-Macon error allowed Greg McKee (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) to score.

Jay Lichter helped the Yellow Jackets stretch the lead back to two runs with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.

The Wolverines threatened in the ninth, putting two on with one out, but were unable to push any runs as James Bierlein closed out the game for the save.

In addition to a pair of hits by Murphy, both McKee and Carlson turned in multi-hit days.

Cooper allowed just two earned runs in 5.2 innings in his first career start, but was saddled with the loss.

The Wolverines will look to rebound on February 26 when Penn State-Harrisburg visits Bob Reed Field.
