FERRUM, Va. – No. 6/7 Shenandoah completed a weekend baseball sweep of Ferrum College Sunday afternoon with a 22-7 USA South victory over the Panthers.

The Hornets (7-0, 2-0 USA South) banged out 21 hits in finishing off the Panthers (5-5, 0-2) in seven innings due to the USA South mercy rule.

Shenandoah hit five home runs in the game, including two from senior All-America Greg Van Sickler and two from sophomore shortstop Kurt Kraut.

Junior Jake Pendergraft had the squad's final dinger.

Senior Brian Fream (1-0) earned his first-ever victory by recording the final out of the Ferrum fifth.

Fream took over for sophomore Vince Claudio, who allowed six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. He also struck out five.

Fream induced an inning-ending Travis Crump pop-up to short with a pair of runners on base.

Bobby Stefanowicz and Bryce Sears worked the sixth and seventh to close out the contest.

Kraut had a team-best four hits in four at-bats with Joey Donofrio and Keaton Neeb joining Van Sickler by posting three hits each.

Kevin Brashears, Nick Beall and Pendergraft were all 2 for 3 with three RBI.

Crump, Josh Mahaffey and Sammy Holloway all had two hits for Ferrum.

Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday with a non-league game against Franklin & Marshall. Senior Ben Hendrickson (1-0) is the scheduled starting pitcher.
