THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Leading by one in the fifth inning Nick Boggan sent a ball deep over the right-center wall at Ullman Stadium on Monday afternoon en route to a 10-4 victory over Redlands. The sophomore slugger smashed his sixth home run of the season, drove in five runs on in the game and scored twice.

Box Score: CLU 10, UR 4 - F

Facing a new pitcher and a 3-1 count, Boggan sent the offering nearly into the Poulson Tennis Center and blew the game wide open with CLU's hottest pitcher on the mound to hold the lead.

After Cal Lutheran used a big inning of its own to take a 6-2 lead through five, pitcher John LaMoure had more than enough run support to secure another victory. He completed seven innings allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits while striking out four Bulldogs.

Over his last three starts he has gone 17 innings, struck out 20 batters to just one walk issued, allowed 16 hits (only three for extra bases) and has a 0.53 earned run average.

One run apiece came in the fourth and fifth innings for the visiting side giving them leads of 1-0 and 2-1, respectively. To open the scoring Jason Henning hit a two-out, RBI-double to the left field corner that scored Nate Carlson. Henning led the squad with two hits and Carlson likewise scoring half of his squad's runs.

CLU used small ball to tie the game originally after a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly, the latter off the bat of Danny Gallinot scored the game-tying run in the fourth.

The first four CLU batters in the fifth hit safely when Richard Michelin's sacrifice fly gave the Kingsmen a one-run lead. Boggan faced new hurler Jeff Cashmer with runners on the corners and worked the count to 3-0. Thinking a walk would be issued the Bulldog reliever threw a strike bringing the count to 3-1. On the ensuing delivery Boggan sat fastball and turned on it capping off a five-run fifth frame.

Boggan collected his final two runs batted in delivering a seventh inning double that sparked a four run rally.

Cal Lutheran (5-6, 3-2 SCIAC) will play a weekend series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (5-7, 4-2 SCIAC) starting Friday, Mar. 4. The opening game will be at CMS followed by a Saturday doubleheader at CLU.
