Choctaws Drop Third Straight, Fall to Millsaps, 6-3

CLINTON, MS - The Mississippi College baseball team lost their third straight game with a 6-3 defeat at the hands of cross-town rival Millsaps on Tuesday night at Frierson Field.

The Choctaws outhit the Majors, 10-8, but could not take advantage of four Millsaps errors.  The Majors scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning.

Senior Terrell Prescott was tabbed with the loss after pitching 4.1 innings and striking out eight.  Only two of the five runs Prescott allowed were earned.

The Choctaw bullpen that consisted of Justin Franciskato, Ryan Glover, and Bo Craig combined to allow four hits and one earned run over the final 4.2 innings pitched.  On the night, the MC pitching staff struck out 14 batters.

Freshman Brandon Robinson collected the win for Millsaps after scattering seven hits over 6.0 innings.  Will Elmore recorded the save, allowing three hits and one earned run over 3.0 innings.

Senior Brandon Benton led MC at the plate with a 3-3 night, including a double and an RBI.  Junior Spencer Brunson went 2-4 with a run scored on the night.

Will Hawkins and Jason Riggins each tallied two hits, while Hawkins and Drew Leonard scored two runs apiece.

The Choctaws will travel to Abilene, TX this weekend to face McMurry in a three-game series.  All three games will be broadcast on GameCentral.
