Yaphank, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to Ithaca on Friday afternoon by a score of 17-1. The Dolphins managed only two hits in the game, with James Labartino (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Christian Lavery (Westbury, N.Y.) each collecting a safety.

Mount Saint Vincent opened the scoring in its first at-bat after pushing across an unearned run. Lavery led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third after a steal and a groundout. He eventually scored on a two out error to give the Mount an early 1-0 lead.

That would prove to be the only run of the game for the Dolphins and after the Bombers went scoreless for the first three innings, they scored at least one run in each of their final six at-bats. Ithaca would open the game up with three runs each in the fifth and sixth and six runs in the eighth.

Ithaca pounded out 20 hits in the game and had five players with multiple hits. Tim Locasto went 4-for-5 on the afternoon with four runs scored and three RBI for the Bombers, while Matt Keller went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI.

The Bombers also had nine players drive in at least one run and 10 different players score a run in their first win of the season. Ithaca rounded out a strong offensive showing with five players scoring a run and recording an RBI.

Mount Saint Vincent did not get its first hit of the game until Labartino ripped a one out double in the home half of the sixth inning. The only other Mount Saint Vincent hit came an inning later when Lavery sent a single to right field.

Mike McManus (Bayside, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss on Friday after allowing four runs in 4.2 innings of work. Only one of the runs he surrendered was earned and he fanned three batters. Ithaca starter Brian Eggelston picked up the win after throwing 6.0 innings and allowing jus the one unearned run. He allowed just one hit and struck out seven Dolphins.

Friday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-2 overall on the season through three games. The Dolphins will look to get back on track Saturday when they take on Eastern Connecticut back out at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, N.Y. First pitch with the Warriors is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
