CONWAY, Ark. (March 7) -- University of Texas at Tyler escaped with a 7-6 win over Hendrix College on a brisk evening Monday at Warrior Field. The No. 11 Patriots came back from a 4-2 deficit despite being out-hit by the Warriors 12-10.

UT-Tyler junior Chance Williams entered in the fourth and retired 10 straight batters through the seventh inning to earn his second win of the season. Junior Parker Sheets entered in the ninth to pick up his first save of the year.

Hendrix first year Thomas Weber pitched to the last batter of the fourth and was pinned with the loss after 3.0 innings, six hits, four runs (two earned), and three walks.

UT-Tyler scored lit up the scoreboard in the second inning when senior Jordon Vierra walked with two outs, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a single up the middle by junior Hayden Chick. Chick stole second and raced home on junior Jake Ashley's base knock to left field.

Hendrix junior Kyle Raskin ignited a four-run rally with two outs in the fourth. Raskin and first year Collin Radack singled before senior Jeff Forgerson put both runners across the plate on a shot down the right field line. First year Thomas Weber tagged a base knock to score Forgerson and Weber made his way home on a stolen base and a throwing error.

The Patriots made it a one-run ballgame in the fourth when first year Jake Beam singled to center, took second on a wild pitch and came around to score on a throwing error.

Chick highlighted a two-run top of the sixth with an RBI triple to the center field fence. Ashley followed with a base knock up the middle to score Chick and give UT-Tyler a 5-4 lead.

The Patriots added two unearned runs in the seventh after a botched double play. Vierra collected a two-run single up the middle with the bases loaded.

Hendrix was scoreless over the fourth through seventh innings until Forgerson drove in Raskin and Radack on a double in the eighth frame. The Warriors stranded the tying run on third base in the eighth.

Hendrix falls to 5-8 on the year and UT-Tyler improves to 15-0 overall. The two teams will wrap up the series with another nine-inning contest on Tuesday at 5 p.m. CST.
