JACKSON, Miss. – The #24 Millsaps Majors finished the two-game sweep of the #11 Illinois Wesleyan Titans 8-5 tonight at Twenty Field.

The Majors hung six on Anthony Kopp in the third inning to take control of the game early on. Kevin Wall got things started with a leadoff double to center, he then scored on an error by the catcher to put Millsaps up 1-0. Jeremy Aliff followed with a double of his own then Josh Ordeneaux tripled to center to put the Majors up two. The first single-base hit of the inning from Jules Roussel  plated Ordeneaux and Roussel crossed  thanks to the Titans' second error of the inning, 4-0. Kevin Wall came back around to drive in Trey Rountree and Jake Mills with an infield single to end the scoring in the frame with the game blown wide open, 6-0 Majors.

Three innings of scoreless ball were broken up in the seventh as the Titans stormed back with five runs in the top of the inning to pull within one, 6-5, thanks to four hits and two Majors' errors. But Jules Rousell and Will Hawkins got the momentum back on the Majors' side in the home half in huge fashion. Rousell drove the ball deep to right center in the leadoff spot to give the Majors the two-run lead, 7-5. Then, Will Hawkins, hitless to this point, salvaged his day with a bomb to left. The hit extends Hawkins' current hit streak to 26 games dating to last season.

The bats were quiet in the eighth and ninth thanks to the combo of John Pemberton and Boomer Hudson, who sent the Titans on their way with their second loss in two days at the hands of the Majors.

Millsaps will return to the road this weekend as they travel up to Conway, Arkansas to take on the Hendrix Warriors. Saturday's series-opening double header begins at noon followed by a single game on Sunday, again at noon. All three games will be broadcast on GoMajors.com by James Hill.
