DOVER, Del. - No. 23 Mary Washington scored four runs in the second inning and made it stand to down Wesley College 4-3.
In the second inning, back-to-back two-run doubles by Eric Rehbein and Brent Steffey put the Eagles (13-3, 5-2 CAC) on top 4-0.
The Wolverines (15-5, 3-3 CAC) got two back in the bottom of the third on a two-run single by Rob Benedict (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner).
A fourth inning double by Jon Carlson (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) brought Wesley within a run at 4-3.
After that, it was all pitching as Rehbein and the Wolverines' Ryan Doran (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) went the distance without allowing any more runs.
Rehbein allowed just five hits and a pair of walks, while striking out seven to pick up the win. He also had a pair of hits in the game.
Doran gave up six hits and walked five, but also fanned five batters to take the complete game loss.
Steffey finished with a game-high with three hits.
Benedict and Carlson had two hits apiece for Wesley.
The two teams will complete the season series on Saturday, March 19 with a doubleheader at Mary Washington.
