AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Senior Mike Cieszko (Stevenson Ranch, CA / William S. Hart) threw a complete game to lead the Rensselaer baseball team to a 3-0 victory over #20 SUNY Cortland on Saturday morning.  With the win, the Engineers conclude their spring trip and are now 6-4 on the season.  Sophomore Jonny Rio (Maplewood, NJ / Columbia) had a two-run single and classmate Tanner Boucher (Keene, NH / Keene) added a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Cieszko led RPI to victory with a seven-hitter in which he walked only one and struck out seven.  He only allowed three base runners to reach scoring position.

The Engineers got all the offense they needed, scoring all three runs. Cody Vincent (Catskill, NY / John A. Coleman) led off by getting on base via catcher's interference.  He then stole second base before Kyle LaVigne (Ashland, MA / Ashland) laid down a bunt to put runners on first and third.  LaVigne then stole second base, his third steal of the game, to put runners on second and third with no outs.  After Andrew Kalish (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) was retired, Rio sent a single through the right side to score both Vincent and Lavigne. Rio advanced to second with a stolen base of his own and was plated by a Boucher single up the middle.

Both Rio and LaVigne finished with two hits apiece for RPI, which concludes the trip with a 6-4 overall record.  The Engineers travel for an away game at William Paterson on Wednesday (3:30pm) before making their home - and Liberty League - debut on Saturday at 1pm against St. Lawrence.
