Hendrix baseball finishes weekend on high note against Millsaps

CONWAY, Ark. (March 20) -- Hendrix College (10-10, 7-7 SCAC) senior Jeff Forgerson collected the game-winning hit and the victory from the mound to push the Warriors past No. 24 Millsaps College (15-8, 8-4 SCAC) in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Forgerson toed the rubber in the top of the 11th and worked his way out of a jam with the go-ahead run on third and two outs.  Forgerson then sent junior Clark Sims across with a bases juiced single after Sims led off the bottom half with a double.

Hendrix first year right-hander Thomas Weber started the first 5.1 innings and scattered seven hits with four earned runs.  First year left-hander Nick Richardson pitched 4.0 quality innings in relief.  He allowed just two hits, no runs, one walk and struck out six batters from the seventh through 10th frames.

Hendrix outhit Millsaps 13-10 as the Warriors had five players with multiple hits.  The Warriors had another big first at bat with four runs on four hits today.  Hendrix scored five runs on four hits in the first inning of Saturday's opener.  Junior DH Nathan Harr highlighted the inning with an RBI triple.

The Warriors held a 5-1 lead until the Majors plated four runs on four hits and three-straight hit batters in the sixth.  Millsaps took its first lead with a one-run triple in the seventh.  Hendrix knotted the game in the eighth on an error at shortstop, junior Kyle Raskin scored the tying run.

Hendrix's second win of the year against Millsaps marks just the second time in school history to earn two wins against the foes from Jackson, Miss.  Hendrix last went 2-3 against Millsaps in 2009.

The Warriors will travel to Memphis, Tenn. to take on Randolph-Macon College and Rhodes College on March 23 and 24, respectively.
