GREENSBORO, N.C. – Chase Rose went three-for-five with two RBI and David Ryan threw seven shutout innings in Tufts University's 8-1 baseball win at Guilford College Monday.

The Jumbos (2-1), ranked 17th in this week's D3baseball.com Top 25 Poll, gradually built an 8-0 lead before the Quakers plated their lone run in the eighth on Kyle Wooden's RBI single.

Tufts opened the game with an unearned run in the first off of Guilford starter Will Henschel (0-2). The Jumbos doubled their lead in the fourth when Matt Collins plated Rose with an RBI double and broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning that sent Henschel to the showers. Rose delivered a two-out, two-run double in the frame.

Ryan (1-0) looked sharp in his first outing of the spring. He scattered five hits and fanned four before giving way to Alex Cronkite in the eighth.

Collins, David Orlovitz and Ben Walkley all had two hits in Tufts' 12-hit performance.

Wooden had two doubles among his three hits for the Quakers (9-15), who have now dropped three straight following a season-high five-game winning streak.

Guilford visits Roanoke College Tuesday (3/22) at 7:00 p.m. in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
