MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Millsaps baseball team defeated Huntingdon College tonight in seven innings, 12-2.

The Majors and Hawks went three innings with no offense, but Millsaps jumped out with six runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to get the road win.

Wes Perkins and Kevin Wall drove in the game's first two runs with singles to left that plated Will Hawkins and Jake Mills. But the bases were still loaded with just one out in the inning when Drew Leonard stepped to the plate. The junior from Baton Rouge launched one over the left field wall to clean the bases with one swing, putting the Majors up 6-0.

Josh Conlee retired the Hawks on two strikeouts and a grounder to short to keep Huntingdon off the boards going into the Majors' fifth. Millsaps got six hits in the inning, including back-to-back doubles to lead the inning from Josh Ordeneaux and Trey Rountree, to put six more runs on the board. The Majors batted around for the second time in two innings to bury the Hawks in a 12-run hole.

Huntingdon did manage to get two runs back in the fifth and the sixth, but Elliot Varney and Andrew Pearce combined for one-and-two-third innings to keep the Hawks from getting any closer.

Leonard's grand slam gave him the lead in RBI for the day at four. Wall, Perkins, and Jeremy Aliff each added two RBI and Mills had one to round out the scoring for the Majors.

John Conlee got the win in four-and-a-third innings of work. He allowed five hits with two walks, but struck out three in 18 batters-faced.

The Majors will return to the diamond this Friday for the opening game of a three-game set with the LaGrange College Panthers at Twenty Field. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Jackson.
