Farmingdale, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent sophomore Mike McManus (Queens, N.Y.) hurled the Dolphins first ever no-hitter on Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 game one victory at Mount Saint Mary. He worked the second complete game of the season for Mount Saint Vincent and earned his second win of the season.

McManus finished the historic outing with his third career complete game after working the 9.0 inning affair. He faced 32 batters in the game and finished with five strikeouts and five walks. He induced 14 groundball outs on the day and the Dolphins committed just one error behind him. With the shutout, McManus also lowered her earned run average by nearly a full run, from 2.75 to 1.88.

The only threat for McManus in the game came in the home half of the fifth when he stranded two Mount Saint Mary runners in scoring position. After back-to-back walks to open the inning he recorded a strikeout and a pair of groundouts to end the threat. Making the outing a family affair, Mike fired the gem to his brother John who was the Mount's backstop on Saturday.

Mount Saint Vincent got McManus all the run support he would need with single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. The eventual game winning run was pushed across when Vinny Todino (Eastchester, N.Y.) singled home Mike Esposito (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the third.

The Dolphins pushed across insurance runs in the fourth and fifth on a Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) RBI single in the fourth and then when Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) crossed on a passed ball to close out the scoring in the game.

Todino was the only player in the game with more then one hit in game one after going 2-for-4 with an RBI. John McManus (Queens, N.Y.) joined Esposito and Sharpe with a run scored in the contest.

After the no-hitter in game one, the Dolphins had to settle for a split after a 13-6 loss to the Knights in the backend of the set. After getting shut down in the opener, Mount Saint Mary recorded 10 hits and took advantage of five Mount Saint Vincent errors for the victory.

After the Knights took a 2-0 lead after the first inning, the Dolphins battled back to take a 5-2 advantage after scoring twice in the second and three times in the third. Esposito drove in a run and later scored an unearned run in the second and Kevin Coogan (Bronx, N.Y.) and Sharpe each collected run scoring base hits in the third.

Mount Saint Mary got two runs back in the home half of the third, before opening the game up with four in the fourth and then five runs in the sixth. Over the two big innings, the Knights took advantage of four Mount Saint Vincent errors.

Each team collected 10 hits in game two with Sharpe, John McManus and Benjamin Toro, Jr. (Yonkers, N.Y.) each going 2-for-4 in the game. Esposito scored two runs to lead the Dolphins with Coogan also adding a run scored and an RBI.
