Bristol, RI-Junior pitcher Mike DeWald (Hope Valley, RI) earned his first win (1-1) of the year, pitching five innings and giving up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three, as Rhode Island College got back to .500 with a 7-4 win over Roger Williams in a game played at Paolino Field.

The Anchormen (6-6) had five different players knock in a run in the game and junior shortstop Kyle Allaire (Uxbridge, MA) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of walks.

The Anchormen got on the scoreboard in the top of the first via a sacrifice fly by junior first baseman Dan Hopkins (Cranston, RI), scoring junior third baseman J.P. Stone (Narragansett, RI). The Hawks (7-10) would come back in the bottom half of the inning as freshman outfielder Mike Pascarella (Northbridge, MA) led off with a home run to right field. Sophomore first baseman Tony Trafecanty (Franklin, MA) followed that up with an RBI single to right to make it a 2-1 Hawk lead.

The Anchormen would regain the lead in the top of the third, getting three runs to go ahead, 4-2. With the bases loaded, Stone scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two apiece. After Dan Hopkins scored the go-ahead run on an RBI fielder's choice by senior right fielder Ronnie Bracchi (Wappingers Falls, NY), senior catcher Justin Corso (Cranston, RI) followed with an RBI single for the third run of the inning.

Rhode Island College added a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings on an RBI single by senior second baseman Andy Sceeles (Seekonk, MA) and another by senior designated hitter Gary Levesque (East Providence, RI) before the Hawks plated another run in the bottom of the sixth.

Junior pitcher Rob Rushton (Freetown, MA) started the first four innings, giving up a pair of runs. Stone added a hit and two runs scored.

Freshman pitcher Eric Diffily (North Reading, MA) took the loss for RWU (0-2), as he was tagged for four runs off four hits and three walks in three innings. Trafecanty finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, while senior first baseman Zach Porter (Middleboro, MA) was 3-for-3 in the game.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Becker on Thursday, March 31.
