Union, N.J. (4/5/11) – The Kean University baseball pitching staff combined for the complete game shutout allowing just six singles and no walks along the way to send the Cougars to a 4-0 victory over the College of Staten Island in today's non-conference action.

The game was moved to Jim Hynes Stadium after rain this morning as both teams played in a cold and windy matchup.

#4/5 Kean improves to 18-4 overall while the loss drops CSI to 11-10 this season.

The Cougars used a balanced scoring attack plating single runs in the first, second, fifth and eighth.  In the top half of the first senior Ken Gregory lined a two-out RBI double scoring junior Lee Cavico who reached on a single.  In the second, junior Vinny Galya recorded a fielder's choice RBI with the bases loaded.

Kean pushed across another run in the fifth as Cavico reached on a double and scored on Gregory's RBI single.  Senior Kyle Walker scored the game's final run in the eighth on a wild pitch after leading off the frame with a walk.

Senior Chris Cirlincione earned the win for the Cougars.  Cirlincione (3-0) tossed six innings allowing just five singles while striking out one.  Freshman Nick Zucchero and southpaw Brandon Bujnowski combined for the final three innings allowing just one hit.  CSI's Pat Gale suffered the loss.  Gale (3-3) allowed three runs and five hits while walking seven and striking out five.

Offensively Cavico was 2-for-4 with two runs scored while Gregory was 2-for-4 with two RBI.  Gale, who also batted for himself in the matchup, was 2-for-4 for the Dolphins.

Kean returns to NJAC action on Thursday as they travel to Rutgers-Camden.
