Cortland improved to 17-5 with the victories and extended its winning streak to nine games. The Red Dragons will host RIT in a single game Sunday at 1 p.m. (the time has been changed from the original 2 p.m. start).

GAME 1: Cortland 7, Mt. St. Vincent 6

Cortland took a 7-1 lead after three innings of the seven-inning opener and held off a late charge by the visiting Dolphins. Adornetto drove in a run in the first on a fielder's choice and hit a three-run homer during Cortland's four-run second inning. The homer was the first collegiate round-tripper for Adornetto, who played last season at Div. I Stony Brook.

Junior Matt June (Colonie) drove in Cortland's first run of the second with a sacrifice fly. The Red Dragons scored twice in the third on a wild pitch and a Justin Fredenburg (Saugerties) sacrifice fly.

Mt. St. Vincent took an early 1-0 lead on Fernando Suriel's (Yonkers/Salesian) first-inning RBI single. The Dolphins scored once in the fourth on a Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma/St. John the Baptist) RBI single and again in the fifth on a John McManus (Queens/Holy Cross) sacrifice fly.

Trailing 7-3 entering the top of the seventh, the Dolphins started their last at-bat when James Labartino (Holbrook/St. John the Baptist) was hit by a pitch. He stole second with one out, then ran on the pitch and scored from second on a groundout to short by Suriel. An error extended the inning, followed by four consecutive singles from Mark Sargente (Commack/Hauppauge), pinch hitter Kevin Coogan (Bronx/Cardinal Spellman), Tyler Pope (Massapequa/St. John the Baptist) and Sharpe. Coogan's and Sharpe's hits drove in runs to bring Mt. St. Vincent within 7-6.

Cortland junior Tom Nagy (Greenville/Minisink Valley) allowed the last three of those hits, two of which were infield singles, but he was able to close the door on a pop-up with the bases loaded for his fourth save of the season.

June and Zack Graczyk (Carmel) each finished 2-for-3 and Adam Smith (Vestal) was 1-for-2 with two walks for the Red Dragons. Labartino was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Sharpe was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI for the Dolphins.

Cortland starter Zachary Badanes (Syosset) earned his first victory. He pitched the first four innings and gave up three hits and two runs, one earned, with five strikeouts and four walks. Mike McManus (Queens/Holy Cross) took the loss – he was responsible for all seven runs in two and two-third innings. Ryan Schlichter (Southold) kept the Dolphins close as he gave up two hits and two walks in three and a third scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Cortland stole eight bases in the contest, including three by Graczyk and two by sophomore Matt Wild (Auburn). Labartino registered three of the Dolphins' four steals.

GAME 2: Cortland 9, Mt. St. Vincent 0

Lompado ran his record to 2-0 with the victory. The only hit he allowed in four and a third innings was a liner up the middle that ricocheted off his leg by Labartino to lead off the third. Lompado struck out one and walked four. Molloy entered with one out in the fifth and retired all eight batters he faced, four by strikeout, although he did not qualify for a save.

Senior Dan Kaplan (Penfield) hit a two-run homer to spark a four-run second inning. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. June was 1-for-1 with two walks in three plate appearances and P.J. Rinaldi (Bethel, CT) walked, hit a sacrifice fly and was hit by a pitch in three trips. Wild stole two bases and scored twice.

Cortland's other two runs in the second came on a balk and a Smith RBI double. Tim Panetta (Mount Kisco/Fox Lane) tripled with one out in the third and scored on Rinaldi's sac fly to put Cortland ahead 5-0. The Red Dragons' final four runs came in the sixth on bases-loaded walks by Wild and James Quinn (Guilderland), a Billy Ribeiro (Congers/Nyack) sacrifice fly and a Chris Jackson (Wappingers Falls/Roy C. Ketcham) RBI fielder's choice.
