BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- By completing a season sweep of Geneva, the Westminster College baseball team improved its record to 17-5. The Titans collected 24 hits en route to a 16-8 win at Geneva Thursday. The Golden Tornadoes fall to 14-12 on the season.

Sophomore right fielder Kyle Allen and junior first baseman Tim Wiand each posted new career highs for hits in a game as they both batted 4-for-6 to lead the Titans. Allen scored three times and knocked in two runs, while Wiand scored once and plated three runs.

Geneva led 3-0 after one inning before Westminster scored two runs in the second inning and four in the third inning. The Titans led 6-5 through three innings and 8-7 through five innings before Westminster took control of the game with a five-run seventh inning, capped off by Wiand's two-run double.

Another multi-RBI hit for the Titans came from junior third baseman Ethan Yeager, who broke a 3-3 tie in the third inning with a two-run single. Yeager finished the game 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs.

Senior pitcher Tim Lynn started the game for Westminster by pitching 4 2/3 innings with seven runs off seven hits and two walks. He did not go the required five innings for the win in a nine-inning game so freshman reliever Ron Sullivan got the win by going 3 1/3 innings with one run off two hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

The game did not count in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standings because Geneva is a provisional NCAA member.

Westminster travels to Thomas More for a weekend series against the first-place Saints beginning with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
