WHITEWATER, Wis. - The weather was cold, but it didn't cool off the bats of 10th-ranked UW-Whitewater in a non-conference doubleheader with the Edgewood College baseball team. The Warhawks pounded out 25 hits in sweeping a pair of games from the Eagles 12-2 and 14-2.

Eric Curtis singled in Scott Ortega in the fifth inning and Alex Jaskulski drove in another run in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout, but that was all the scoring the Eagles could muster in game one. UW-Whitewater (20-5) was led by Jeff Donovan who went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in four runs. The Warhawks scored nine of their 12 runs in the final three innings.

Edgewood College (11-17) received two hits apiece from Curtis and Andrew King to lead the Eagles' offense. Starting pitcher Jason Towns held up well early on but gave up three runs in the third and three more in the fifth before departing. Towns struck out one and walked three in falling to 0-3 on the year. Tony Ales pitched the final two innings and gave up one earned run.

In game two, the Warhawks flexed their muscle early with two runs in the first and seven more in the second. Mike Selvaggi singled home a run in the third and Will Schlosser drove in a run in the fourth to account for the Eagles' scoring.

Schlosser had two hits in two at-bats, to be the only Eagle with multiple hits in the game. Jake Zadra extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games with a third inning single. Starting pitcher Taylor Hillmann received a rough greeting surrendering seven earned runs in one inning of work to take the loss. Miles Mayer and Marc Ostrowski completed the game for the Eagles.

Edgewood College will refocus their attention on the race to the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament with a pair of Easter weekend doubleheaders. The Eagles will travel to Fond du Lac to pay Marian University on Saturday, and then return home for a Monday doubleheader against Wisconsin Lutheran College.
