DULUTH, Minn. – Led by sophomore Kyle Flagstad's home run and six RBIs, the ninth-ranked St. Scholastica baseball team swept Presentation College in the first games played at Wade Stadium this season by scores of 6-4 and 13-4, respectively.

In game one, CSS scored the first run of the game in bottom of the third on a Kyle Jensen RBI-single. However, the lead didn't last long as an error and a hit batter began the top of the fourth. That was followed by a two-run double. Presentation would get a sacrifice fly later in the inning to make it 3-1.

Jake Casareto and Jensen recorded RBIs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. Presentation loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth and would get one run on a double play, but that would be it. Then in the bottom half, Brian Marshik led off with a single and Kyle Flagstad followed taking a 2-1 pitch deep over the right field fence to put the Saints up 5-4.

Presentation put a runner on third with one out in the sixth, but Jake Nystrom held the PC Saints without a run. Flagstad came up again in the sixth and added insurance with a RBI-double. Presentation put the leading run at the plate in the seventh, but Nystrom induced a groundout to end it.

David Vogelgesang improved to 6-0, allowing just two earned runs and five hits over five innings. Nystrom earned his fourth save of the season. Flagstad was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Jensen was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

In the nightcap, a seven-run fourth inning broke the game open as the Saints cruised to a 13-4 triumph.

After Presentation put a run on the board in the top of the first, it was Kyle Moody drilling a three-run home run in the bottom half to make it 3-1. An error hurt the Saints in the second as Presentation scored three unearned runs in the inning to regain the lead at 4-3.

However, the Saints took the lead right back with RBIs from Flagstad and Joe Link in the bottom of the second to make it 5-4 CSS.

The Saints then busted out for seven runs on seven hits in the fourth. Flagstad had a two-run single, Link and Jensen had sacrifice flies, while Brandon Peterson, Vogelgesang and Casareto had RBI-doubles.

Matt Lewis also improved to 6-0 on the year, allowing just one earned run and striking out four in five innings. Joel Wuorio worked the final two innings and struck out two. Moody led the way with four RBIs in game two, while Flagstad was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

The Saints will hope to complete their series with Presentation tomorrow and have moved up the start time to 10 a.m.
