HUNTINGDON, Pa.—The University of Scranton learned Sunday afternoon that all good things must come to an end.

The Royals' season-long 12-game winning streak came to a close with an 8-2 loss to Juniata College at Langdon-Goodale Field in a game shortened to four and ½  innings due to rain.

Regardless of the outcome, Scranton, now 20-15, still enters next weekend's Landmark Conference double-elimination tournament at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as the number two seed and will be the home team against Catholic University in a first-round game.  The other first-round matchup features #4 Susquehanna taking on top-seeded Moravian.

Juniata freshman pitcher Ryan Morrison (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) silenced the Royal bats from the start, allowing just three singles, two of which came in the fourth inning by junior Jesse Outhouse (Croton Falls, N.Y./North Salem) and senior Jason Lane (Moosic, Pa./Riverside). 

Lane's single drove in junior Sean Butler (Dickson City, Pa./Scranton), who walked to open the frame, while Scranton's other hit was recorded in the previous inning by sophomore Michael Amaturo (Rye, N.Y./Rye). 

The Royals were still within striking distance, trailing only 4-2, but the Eagles broke it open with a 4-run rally in the bottom of the fourth.  Mother Nature did the rest.

Freshman shortstop Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculata) belted out a pair of doubles and drove in three runs for Juniata, which improves to 16-21 overall and ends its Landmark Conference season with a 7-11 record.

Scranton will host local rivals Baptist Bible and Wilkes on Monday and Tuesday, May 3-4, at Connell Park.  Tomorrow's 9-inning game against Baptist Bible College is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday's 7-inning doubleheader against Wilkes will begin at 2:00 p.m.
