Phelan K's 11 as Rams Shutdown Mount Saint Vincent

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) threw a complete game shutout allowing three hits and striking out 11 as the Rams blanked Mount Saint Vincent 4-0 this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. Farmingdale State (20-12) will take on Old Westbury tomorrow with the winner advancing to the Skyline Championship game.

In the bottom of the third, the Rams had two batters reach base on walks before sophomore right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) hit a two out 2 RBI single to right field which put Farmingdale State ahead 2-0. The Rams added two runs in the sixth on a Thomas Butler (Islip, N.Y.) sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Danny DeVito (Plainview, N.Y.). Phelan allowed only two hits over the final three innings as he improved to 6-3 on the season.

Sophomore designated hitter David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 at the plate, while Bohonan was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. 

Farmingdale State will face fifth seeded Old Westbury tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m.
