ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College freshman pitcher Bryan Meyer (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) has been named the Diamond Sports St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday night.  Meyer earned his second career complete-game victory last Tuesday.

Facing then-SLIAC leader Spalding in the opener of a doubleheader at Henry Sand Field last Tuesday, Meyer allowed only two earned runs on five hits over 7.0 innings.  He threw 105 pitches during the contest, striking out six Golden Eagles and walking only two.  The win was the third of his career and lowered his season earned run average to a team-best 4.53 over 47.2 innings pitched.

The announcement marked Eureka's first weekly award from the SLIAC in any sport during the spring season.  Meyer becomes the first Eureka baseball player to earn SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors since Clay McConkey earned the award on May 10, 2010.

Meyer and the Red Devils wrapped up their season last week, taking two out of three contests against Spalding to finish the year with an 11-25 overall record and a 7-17 SLIAC mark.
