Oswego State Director of Athletics Tim Hale is pleased to announce that Scott Landers has been selected to be the Oswego State Head Baseball Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.  The Windsor, N.Y. native joins the Laker staff after serving as the assistant coach at NCAA Division I Le Moyne College for the past nine seasons.

"Scott brings a wealth of experience and success in baseball to the Oswego State program. He is a proven competitor who has played on and coached several teams that have achieved a great deal of NCAA success at the Division I and III levels. We are very excited to have Scott join the Lakers," said Hale.

With the Dolphins, Landers' primary responsibilities were working with hitters and pitchers, but he also served as the recruiting coordinator and the infield and outfield coach.  During his tenure at Le Moyne, five Le Moyne pitchers signed professional baseball contracts. In that same time, four position players were selected in the MLB draft. Right-handers Bobby Blevins and Matt Scherer were named conference pitchers of the year. Infielders Mike Affronti (2006) and Andy Parrino (2007) were also named conference players of the year in back-to-back seasons.  Overall, Landers has coached 21 players that have gone on to play professional baseball. 

Before joining Le Moyne, Landers served as an assistant coach at SUNY Cortland for two years and one season as the head coach at Broome Community College (BCC). At Cortland, Landers helped guide the Red Dragons to two league titles in 2000 and 2002 with unblemished 12-0 marks, overall records of 36-9 and 31-11, one regional title and one Division III World Series berth. In 2001 at BCC, Landers guided the Hornets to a 22-19 mark and New York State Regional berth.

"It is an honor for me to join the Oswego State Athletic Department family as the new head baseball coach," said Landers.  "I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity Oswego State has given me and my family.  Oswego has had a rich tradition of success in the past and I am looking forward to the challenge of making the Lakers one of the top teams in the Northeast."

Landers graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education in December 1998 and earned his Master of Science degree in Health Education from SUNY Cortland in 2003.  Landers was a four-year pitcher at Cortland under the direction of former head coach Steve Owens. As a player, Landers helped the Red Dragons earn three SUNYAC titles, four regional appearances and three NCAA Division III World Series appearances. Cortland finished third on two occasions and seventh once at the NCAA Division III World Series. As a junior, Landers was named to the 1997 ABCA All-America Third Team.
