Union, N.J. (3/1/12) – Senior southpaw Ryan Zamorsky tossed a complete game for his second win of the season as the Kean University baseball team picked up their fourth win of the season by defeating visiting DeSales University, 4-1, Thursday afternoon.

Zamorsky struck out seven and allowed just five singles and an unearned run in helping Kean improve to 4-1.  Senior Nick Chiovitti was 2-for-3 for DeSales, who was playing in their season opener.

The Cougars plated what would be the winning run in the fourth inning as senior Vinny Galya led off the frame by being hit-by-a-pitch.  He would later swipe second, but that wouldn't matter as senior Steve Sanguiliano launched his first homerun of the season to put Kean on top 2-0.

DeSales answered right back with a single run in the fifth as sophomore Mark Fush reached second on a Cougar miscue.  After a successful sacrifice to move him to third, he was brought home with a groundout RBI by senior Kenny Ridge.

Kean tacked on single runs in the fifth and seventh as sophomore Shane Alvarez recorded an RBI groundout and Galya received an RBI on a bunt single.

Junior David Drinks suffered the loss for the Bulldogs.  He allowed three runs, two earned, in two innings of work.

Alvarez finished the day with a 2-for-4 performance, while sophomore Tyler Smarslok added two hits, including a double.

Kean returns to action on Friday when they host Neumann University at 2 p.m.
