BROOKLYN, N.Y. – DJ Keckler threw a two-hit shutout as Wesley College's baseball team defeated Polytechnic (N.Y.), 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Floyd Bennett Field.  The Wolverines (8-3), behind Sam Farnell, crushed the Blue Jays, 16-1 in the second game.

A senior from Fallston, Md., Keckler (4-0) also struck out five batters and was perfect through 3.1 innings before a Wesley error in the fourth.  After a fly out, Keckler lost his no-hitter that same inning.

Wesley scored two runs in the second, four in the third and one more in the fourth to blow the game open, allowing Keckler to cruise to his fourth complete game in as many starts.  A run by Geoff Kimmel and a RBI groundout by Bryan Reshetar in the second started the scoring, while a pair of RBIs, an error and a sacrifice fly by Steve Perone accounted for the Wolverines' runs in the third.

Jon Carlson added sacrifice flies in the fourth and sixth innings to complete the scoring.

Farnell went 4-4 with a double and four RBIs in the second game as Wesley scored 16 runs on 20 hits.  The Wolverines scored three runs each in the first three innings before erupting for five more in the fourth to once again blow the game open.

Rob Benedict and Carlson both scored three runs in the rout while combining for five hits and Morgan Rupp hit 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Jordan Lozzi earned the win by striking out seven Blue Jays while allowing just one run and five hits in five innings.  Tommy Reapsome made his collegiate debut by pitching two scoreless innings while allowing just two hits.

Carlson and Matt Robles both put up identical 4-for-6 with four runs scored in the doubleheader while Carlson also drove in three.  Rupp also drove in three runs in the twinbill while Farnell's four RBIs were a team-high.  Benedict slugged 1.000 in the two games by going 3-for-7 with four runs, two doubles, a triple and two steals.

The same two teams will meet in a single game at Floyd Bennett Field at 12 pm on Sunday, March 11.
