FRANKLIN, Ind. (March 10) – The Grizzlies captured the opener with a grand slam and won the second contest in a rout, sweeping Albion in a baseball doubleheader at McDowell Field this afternoon.

Franklin College took the Friday-Saturday series 3-0 and is now 8-2 overall on the season. The Britons fell to 1-6.

In the first game, senior third baseman Jordon Klinedinst hit a grand slam home run over the left field fence to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh to lift FC to a 7-3 comeback victory. Klinedinst belted the game-winning homer – his first home run of the season - after junior pinch-hitter Pat Sharpe drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs to tie the contest at 3-3.

Franklin's seventh-inning uprising made a winner of senior pitcher Nathan Ellis, who improved to 3-0. Ellis gave up seven hits and two earned runs with no walks issued and five strikeouts.

Senior right fielder Jarrett Johnson had two of the Grizzlies' six hits, including a double to lead off the decisive seventh.

Franklin fell behind 3-0 after 3-1/2 innings in the second game, but tallied seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and then put Albion away with nine runs in the sixth inning on its way to a 17-8 triumph.

Senior shortstop Nick Stoia produced three hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run – his first round-tripper of the season – in the sixth inning. Freshman left fielder Mitch Frey also had three hits and three RBIs, which included a two-run double in the sixth.

Klinedinst collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs and freshman second baseman Dylan Reyher drove in two runs with a double in the sixth. FC totaled 19 hits.
