Seguin, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team could not get the offense going to overcome Texas Lutheran's timely hitting and the Cru dropped a 4-0 decision to the Bulldogs Sunday afternoon in Seguin. The loss drops UMHB to 9-6 overall and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference West Division play. TLU improves to 9-5 overall and 1-0 in the ASC West with the victory.

UMHB's Taylor Burrow and TLU's Brad Orosey were locked up in a scoreless pitcher's duel into the bottom of the fourth inning. Daniel Harvey led off with a single, stole second and scored on Evan Curtis' RBI single. The Bulldogs stretched it to 2-0 on Brian Wheaton's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth. TLU added some breathing room on Klaus Bohrmann's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. The Cru would only manage one base-runner the rest of the way and did not advance a runner past second base in the game.

Burrow scattered 11 hits over eight innings, striking out two and walking two while dropping to 1-4 on the year. Orosey struck out 14 and held the Cru to just three hits while not walking a batter to raise his record to 3-1. Bohrmann had three hits for TLU and Curtis and Von Wendel had two hits apiece. Chris Florack, Josh Fredrick and Zach Crosswhite had the UMHB hits, all singles, in the loss.

The two teams will close out the series with a 12:00 PM doubleheader tomorrow at Katt-Isbell Field on the Texas Lutheran University campus. UMHB will then return home to host U.T.-Tyler for a non-conference tilt. That game is currently scheduled for a 3:00 PM start on Tuesday at Red Murff Field, but could be pushed back one day to Wednesday.
