Makin Leads No. 19 Thomas More to a 9-5 Win at Centre

(DANVILLE, Ky.) - Sophomore right fielder Cody Makin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was a perfect four-for-four at the plate tonight (Wednesday, March 14, 2012) to lead the 19th-ranked Thomas More College baseball team to a 9-5 win over Centre College in a non-conference game at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 7-1 and with the loss, the Colonels fall to 8-8.

With his four-for-four performance at the plate Makin, added a run batted-in and two runs scored.  Two other Saints had multiple hits in the game as sophomore third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was four-for-five with four RBI and two runs scored and junior designated hitter Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-three with three RBI and two runs scored.

On the mound, freshman Tim Baldrick (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) earned the win as he started and pitched five innings and junior Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned the saved as he pitched four innings of relief.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (March 17) when it hosts 12th-ranked Adrian College at 2 p.m. at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
