GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Eric Hungerford threw seven strong innings while the Bullets banged out 18 hits en route to an 11-2 victory over Penn State-Berks in a non-conference baseball game at a sun-drenched Kirchhoff Field Friday afternoon.

Hungerford (2-1) limited the Nittany Lions to a pair of runs on five hits and one walk while striking out nine – the most by a Bullet this season.

Sophomore Nate Simon and senior Clint O'Brien led Gettysburg (9-4) at the plate, combining to go 8-for-9 with five RBIs. Simon went 4-for-4 with three RBIs while O'Brien was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.

Junior Pat Cody also went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs while sophomores Patrick O'Grady and Al Posch each recorded two hits and two runs. Freshman Cory Karagjozi chipped in with a pair of hits.

Penn State-Berks (0-11), which remained winless on the season, received a 2-for-4 day at the plate from Christian Marcin.

Gettysburg scored three runs on four hits in each of the first two innings against Berks starter Matt Emrick to seize an early 6-1 lead. O'Grady led off the first with a double and scored on an error before Cody and O'Brien each stroked RBI-singles to make it 3-0.

The Lions got on the board in the second, scoring a run without the benefit of a hit. The Bullets answered with another three-spot, as Posch, Cody, and Simon drove in one run apiece on three consecutive at-bats with a single, triple, and double, respectively.

Berks scored its final run with a two-hit third inning. Emrick (0-1) would blank Gettysburg over his last two innings, but the Bullets tacked on five runs against a pair of relievers. Gettysburg led off with four straight hits in the eighth, including a double from sophomore Austin Davis, who is now 6-for-6 on the season, and a two-run single from Simon.

Freshman Brett Harrington and sophomore Chris Yoda came on to throw one scoreless inning each for the Bullets.
