Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team picked up a Skyline Conference sweep over Maritime College this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Rams have won seven straight and improved to 12-6 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

In game one, Farmingdale State broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth with an RBI triple to center by junior left fielder David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.). After a Ryan McAllister (Miller Place, N.Y.) sacrifice fly, Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.) singled up the middle to score freshman second baseman Thomas Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) to give the Rams a 3-0 advantage. In Farmingdale State's next at bat, senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) doubled down the left field line scoring two runs to increase the lead to 5-0.

Trailing 5-0 in the ninth inning, Maritime (9-9, 2-4) plated four runs and had bases loaded with only one out. Junior centerfielder Joey Semler (Kirkland, Wash.) hit a ground ball back to the pitcher in Maritime's next at bat and freshman Michael Santagata (Brentwood, N.Y.) threw home to get the second out of the inning and keep Farmingdale State ahead 5-4. Santagata struck out the next batter to seal the victory for the Rams.

Senior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) earned the win after allowing two earned runs on five hits in 8.1 innings of work. Santagata picked up the save after recording the final two outs of the game.   

The Rams were led by Bohonan who was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI, while Scarlato had a hit and 2 RBI.  

In game two, Farmingdale State scored two runs in the first and five in the third inning to quickly lead 7-0. The rams added three more runs in the sixth inning en route to the 10-0 victory and a sweep of Maritime.

Bohonan was 4-for-4 at the plate with and run scored and 2 RBI, while Scarlato and freshman shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each had two hits, a run scored and an RBI. Junior first baseman Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI.

Senior pitcher C.J. Bula (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) threw a complete game shutout allowing only two hits for Farmingdale State.

The Rams next will travel to Oneonta State for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, March 27th at 1:00 p.m.
