GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg jumped to a 7-1 first-inning lead and pushed their advantage to 15-2 in the sixth as the Bullets won their third game in a row with a 17-3 non-conference victory over Penn State-York at a windswept Kirchhoff Field Monday afternoon.

The game was originally scheduled for this past Tuesday but was rained out.

The contest featured 19 walks and 25 hits and lasted over three hours.

The Bullets (10-4) batted around twice and worked a season-high 10 walks – the most since they also drew 10 free passes the last time the teams met two years ago. Gettysburg – which issued nine walks of its own – outhit the Nittany Lions just 13-11 but was also the beneficiary of nine wild pitches.

It was the sixth time this season that Gettysburg posted a double-digit run total, and the fourth time the Bullets scored 14 or more runs. The Bullets had nine players sub into the game as position players.

Penn State-York was playing its season opener.

Sophomore Alex Freeman finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Gettysburg while classmate Andrew Hollis went 2-for-2 coming off the bench. Sophomore Patrick O'Grady posted two runs and two RBIs while sophomore Nate Simon and senior Clint O'Brien also scored two runs apiece.

Sophomore Austin Davis entered the game in the sixth inning before continuing his tremendous start, reaching base safely three times on a pair of walks and an infield single. He finished with a run and an RBI and has now reached base safely in each of his 11 plate appearances thus far in 2012.

Sophomore Drew Felsenthal started and worked four innings en route to a no-decision. He allowed two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four. His former high school teammate, junior Brett Norton, came on to throw the next three frames and picked up the win in relief. Norton (1-0) blanked the Lions while walking four and whiffing three.

Junior John Donovan fanned the side in the eighth after a leadoff walk before sophomore Joe Saladino allowed one run on three singles in the ninth.

After the Lions scored once in the top of the first, the Bullets sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning, scoring seven times on just three hits. But starter James Gotwalt (0-1) issued three walks, hit a batter, and was victimized by two errors.

The Bullets tacked on two runs in the third and one in the fourth to assume a 10-2 lead before blowing it open with a five-run, four-hit sixth, when 10 batters came to the plate.
