LEXINGTON, Va. - Joseph Lucas and Corey Armentrout combined on a two-hit shutout Wednesday to lift Bridgewater to a 2-0 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC baseball action.

Lucas allowed just two hits in seven innings of work. He struck out six and walked just two. The win evened Lucas' record at 2-2.

After a rain delay, Armentrout came on in relief and added two hitless innings to close out the shutout and earn his first save of the season. The freshman lefty struck out three and walked one.

The Eagles finally got to Generals starter Jody Davis with a run in the top of the sixth. With one out, Jonathan Mason and Andrew Hacker smacked back-to-back singles and Jay Thompson walked to load the sacks. Christian Armstrong then hit plated Mason with a sacrifice fly to left for a 1-0 BC lead.

Bridgewater added an insurance tally in the ninth. Pinch-hitter Matt Maher led off with a single to the hole at short and pinch-runner Ryan Fitzgerald moved to second on a balk. A sacrifice bunt by Zach Hynes moved Fitzgerald to third and he scored on Devon Snow's two-out single to center, making the score 2-0.

The Eagles finished the game with 11 base hits, but stranded 10 runners on the basepaths. Snow, Sanderson, Hacker and Alex Nuttycombe delivered two hits apiece to lead the Eagles offense.

The shutout lowered the Eagles' conference best ERA to 2.53.

Bridgewater returns to action Thursday night when it travels to Ferrum for a non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
